Planting Trees where there is no water?

Several people thought my idea of planting trees where there is no water where the PEOPLE need water was a silly idea - but here's the thing - if you DON'T do that - in 60-80 - 100 years those areas will still be without water, and the people will still be DYING. But if you bring in food/water - and bring in trees and water the trees - then in 60/80/100 years it will be RAINING there - doesn't anybody get what I'm saying - I can't believe the insulting way people treated my last question

- they just didn't get it - hopefully this makes sense. Now I know how hard this would be. But the goal is to reforest the planet - and not just the places where that is easy. But if these people really care about global warming then they'll do it. They have money for other things, they'll find money for this too. Some people have lots of money for stuff like this. They just need a PLAN. and proof it works.

Answer:
I don't think it's silly, I just think it sends the wrong message that we have not been willing to bring water to people that need it badly, but all of a sudden, it's a priority when trees are involved.

It's kind of like when we send the military to the Middle East. The first thing people claim is that it must be about oil, that we don't care about people unless there is oil to be had. It doesn't matter if this is true or not, the impression is out there and can be STRONGLY counterproductive. Witness Iraq.

I think your plan make sense as a long term strategy. Get the water to the people and establish it as a permanent source. Encourage conservation and sound water management. After a couple of years introduce fruit bearing trees fit for the area, giving the people a food and income source. Increase the water supply to accompany this added need. Encourage the people to take control of the management of the local ecosystem. or rather to control themselves in a way that is beneficial to the land over the long term.

I hope I didn't give you the wrong impression about thinking it's a bad idea. I grew up in an arid environment, and over the decades as people have managed the "greening" of the area, relative humidity has increased and weather is much more pleasant. So, I know that it CAN be accomplished.
Palnting trees is good. You plant as many as you want wherever you want mate.
OK you have a plan
but where is the proof that it will work. I live in a desert area, at least several miles between trees (mostly cottonwood), how will planting trees bring rain here?
