Answer:
When I was in elementary school I did not like to write because I did not think that anything that I wrote was any good.
When I was in college several of my professors said that papers that I had written were good enough to be published, and in fact four of my undergraduate papers were published in peer reviewed scientific journals before I even graduated from college.
Also some of my professors even posted some of the papers that I had written as examples for other students so they could see what a good paper contained and how it was written.
With that encouragement I began to love writing and have become a rather prolific writer.
With respect to your other questions, I have never paid anyone to write anything for me. I consider myself to be a better writer than the people who are offering their services as ghost writers.
I prefer to choose my own topics rather than write on a topic that someone else prefers.
I read a wide variety of peer reciewed scientific literature as well as literature in the fields of economics and foreign policy.
I recommend that the best way to learn to write is to write on a topic that interests you and get feedback from people who are knowledgable in the field that you are writing about.
FunQA.com is a good opportunity to write on a wide variety of topics.
The feed back is more problematic because not all people who respond to your writing on FunQA.com know what they are talking about.
Even this is a good exercise because it teaches you to be selctive in who you listen to and who you do not pay any attention to.

5. I cannot do assigned topics. To much pressure to find meaning out of work someone else has already done and translate it into my own idea. I have had a few good assignments like "Write about a time you regretted doing something" and that was okay, but again my idea.
6. Nope.
7. I consider myself to be mediocre right now, but that is only because I haven't had as much time to work on my personal writing since I went back to school.
8. Yes. Everything. I collect books, some store bought, but mostly garage sales. I love the look on peoples faces when I ask for books. Its as if books have dwindle off into a world where book burning is acceptable.
9. Yeah if you have any more questions just add me as a contact for this deal. I haven't opened my e-mail yet but if you add me, I will send it to you via your profile.
