Does anyone else find hardcore lightning and harcore thunder freaking awesome?

Yes, both myself and a friend I have enjoy really good thunderstorms. I enjoy pictures even of large electric arcs, And have made much smaller ones in my lab to enjoy.
But the big T-storms and the sound effects are awesome. I do not enjoy the power failures, but it reminds us that our vaunted power systems are puny compared to what the earth has available.
I also enjoy seeing the lines of storms when flying, and the lightning stabbing out in all directions, and seeing how the clouds communicate with lightning, one setting the next off, up and down the front!
I think it does one good to enjoy the thrills of the celestial fireworks, free for the watching, and making our own look tiny!
Sets us back to the proper scale now and then.
I do not like the fores fires the lightning causes tho. But it does show some of our priorities..hundreds of people can be killed in terrorists bombings and booby traps, and we yawn. But one person is killed in a forest fire through his own negligence, and it makes big headlines and fire fighters have to answer how such a terrible thing could happen, etc.
I enjoy the Auroras too, uncounted billions of atomic particles silently dying for our viewing pleasure. Makes one humble, or should anyhow..
And when we are too sophisticated and blase to appreciate the free shows the Earth puts on for us, we really need to watch out.

Dam strait, I love the display of raw power and you can't beat nature.
Oh yeah. I'll even sit and watch tornadoes. I love watching those nasty hailstorms roll in and turn the sky green. I get a charge out of the increased ozone and thunderstorms are thrilling. Even sailing on the ocean, Heaven only knows how I've never been electrocuted or injured.
The start of the rainy season just had the perfect kick off of a tremendous thunder after a freaky lightning. I was walking on the city streets on the way home. awful!
You betcha! I think part of it is because there is danger and that heightens our sense of awareness. I also remember reading years ago that the ionization from the lightning changes the air and gives us a sense of well-being.
I get wood every time it thunders/lightenings!
