Yes man has contributed in use of fossil fuels, however in limited amounts.
Why should we pay for other countries causing major pollution such as the US, China and Mexico to say the worst. It will take a long while to correct this if this is the major problem.
Foot prints are those who consume major amounts of energy to heat - cool machines, they own and celebrities that use personal aircraft trucks to move equipment and set up for concerts and use more energy to have the concerts.

The "documentary" was shown on Channel 4, not the BBC. It's wrong (see below) and the BBC wouldn't touch it.
It is simply a political statement which distorts science. The director has a history of putting out misleading stuff. In 1997 he made a series for Channel 4 called “Against Nature”, which compared environmentalists with Nazis. Channel 4 had to apologise for the misleading stuff in that one. The present movie is also a distortion of the science. More here:

Gore's movie may be a little over dramatic, but it has the basic science right. This movie does not.
Channel 4 itself undercuts the movie in a funny way. If you go to their website on the movie you find links to real global warming information. They also have a way to "Ask the Expert" about global warming. The questions go to a respected mainstream scientist who supports (mostly) human responsibility for global warming.
So, why did Channel 4 broadcast it?

in general we are all to blame.we live in a controlled society.to many people have suffered because of oil.by war and greed.you don't see oil and coal companies and government's around the world give solution's to global warming. and why, it will upset the world ECONOMY.

Global warming from accumulation of CO2 was predicted in 1896. I have a "New Scientist" magazine (an English publication) from 1989 with two articles about it. I knew about it in the late 1970s. I have been reading about it on and off ever since. I understand the physics involved in a little more than general detail. It is a matter of physics and chemistry, not politics.
I have not seen Mr. Gore's Power Point presentation. I have seen a TV program disputing global warming, and the fact that much of the objectors on it are older than I. Old scientists get set in their ideas. Despite that one or two have publicly dissociated themselves from the show.
Data for the past 10 years were conveniently omitted from the program as they did not fit the thesis that global warming was solely due to the Sun's cycle. 8 of the past 10 years have been the hottest on record since the 1850s if not rather longer. This is scientific fraud and for once it is not coming from the "creation scientists."
My personal measurements of CO2 in the atmosphere were 0.032% by volume in 1976 -77, 0.0345% a few years later and up to 0.036% in 1988. Presently it is said to be 0.0383% or so. Compare this with 0.030% quoted in the mid 1960s. This is a very large increase in much less than a human lifetime.
If you think that isn't much, perhaps you'd consider that a similar increase in blood cyanide content isn't much either.
It is clear from most of the answers and questions that some people seem to think it was something that Al Gore invented. They are flat wrong. It is also clear that many have no idea of the actual mechanisms involved, which, given the sad state of science education, does not surprise me.
Who cares? Not me. I kinda hate cold weather. Bring on that greenhouse effect!!

Assuming that global warming is in fact a problem, as long as you feel the need to blame someone for it, you are unlikely to reach a consensus as to any solution.
