What the devil is a CARBON FOOTPRINT?

And why does Al Gore have one
bigger than us?

Answer:
One hour in a private jet burns as much fuel as the average car does in one year...or so they say. It doesn't matter how many carbon reparations he makes, every year he burns up more energy than the average family will in a generation.
a carbon footprint is almost like a mark that each person leaves on the planet and beyond judging on the amount of carbon and fossil fuels they use and waste. it is like a wiegh scale of toxins left by each person

peace and be green
The fossil fuels we use in our cars and to heat our homes and to cook have carbon in them and when we burn them, they put carbon dioxide into the atmosphere. Carbon dioxide is the primary gas that causes global warming. The more fossil fuels we use, the larger our carbon footprint. The goal is to leave a smaller carbon footprint on the planet, in other words, we want to minimize the negative impact we have on the atmosphere. By minimizing our carbon footprints we slow global warming.

I don't know how big Al Gore's carbon footprint is, but he does make an effort to reduce it. He has critics who say his carbon footprint is bigger than most because he travels in a private jet, but that, for the most part is not true because he travels on commercial airliners as much as possible. It's been in the press that he reduces his carbon footprint by buying energy credits from sources that don't put carbon dioxide into the atmosphere.

I know this goes beyond the scope of your question, but there are numerous ways we can reduce our carbon footprints. The main thing we can do is use less energy. We can turn off lights, appliances, computers, TVs, etc. when we're not in the room. The reason this is important is because most of our electricity comes from burning coal. Coal is a dirty fuel and burning it puts carbon dioxide, mercury, and lead into the air. The less electricity you use in your home or office, the less CO2 you'll put into the atmosphere. The same goes for cars. Cars put tons of CO2 into the air so it's important to drive something fuel efficient and well maintained. Of course, instead of driving you can take a bus or train, ride a bike, or walk.

I know this answer is a little disjointed. I hope it helps.
95% of the carbon dioxide on earth is produced by rotting vegetation, 5% is produced by a man burning fossil fuels. Ideally, if you heat your house with a piece of wood that would have rotted anyways and produced carbon dioxide you will have reduced your carbon footprint. Oil and gas pumped from underground and burned produces carbon dioxide which would not have naturally appeared.
Al Gore's carbon footprint is no bigger than anyone else.
First they say there is no such thing as global warming and then they try to discredit the person giving the message.

Don't you think it a little weird that a formal vice president would be announcing this to the world and not someone currently with the government. Now both Republicans and Democrats are saying it's a problem.

Ahh - big business buying politicians one sometimes two at time.
