Why don't some people believe that global warming is true?

I've heard from many reputable sources that global warming is about as credible as professional wrestling's SmackDown.
It's denial.
I think that people don't believe either because they don't want to believe, or they don't care from the start. Either way it's totally ignorant and irresponsible to be just leaving problems to the next generation.
Tell them to go to Michigan.. 20 years ago it would snow straight up from Thanksgiving till about march now it snows just a month or two out of the winter. I moved out of there a few years ago but when I was living there it just rains during the winter now and it is usually brown you don't see nearly as much snow nowadays. I believe that global warming is happening. My friends were all complaining cuz it wasn't snowing and they shovel snow for a living. So yeah its really happening
certain "scientists" are funded by the oil companies through third parties to get the message out that global warming isn't occuring.

I've lived quite a long time and have witnessed the changing trends of weather. Where I live, we've received more snow and cold weather in the last 10 years than we did in the prior 15 years. The facts don't speak for themselves either. Most of us old hippies have been conserving, recycling, reusing since the 1970s. What's old is new again. If I could do something, I would ban water bottles.

Because there are people who are simply happy in denial. What I want to know is why the shock? The earth has been moving toward this since it was inhabitable. All good things come to an end. . . doesn't that also include our world?

Too many people say they believe it works this way or they think its happening that way, when really if you talk to a scientist or two or read multipul reports by credible scientists (not on the Exxon list or Petition Project etc) you will see how they all intertwine. The media doesn't help either, they make global warming seem like a debatable subject, but its not. Its been slowing taking place over the past 35 years, and its only gonna speed up
no it isnt the sun's fault...its because of pollution and greenhouse gasses. the ten hottest years in record occurred in the last fifteen years and the hottest is 2006 (or it might be 2005) so it is getting worse...somepeople might not want to believe it because they just dont want to accept that it is a very real problem and they have to do something about it. sounds strange but its true. tell them to watch an in convenient truth. very informative (although it focuses too much on Al Gore at times.)
Because how long have humans been keeping records of temperatures? At the most 200-300 years. They have no basis to say the earth is getting hotter than ever before or even able to prove that it is or isnt a natural warming trend.
Heck half of them argue that global cooling and not warming is happening.
The real scam is by people who claim "all the scientists agree" and try to scare people by exaggerating the effects of a possible rise in temperatures in order to serve their political agenda. What is his agenda? Just listen to "even if it is not true, it can not hurt arguments."
Al Gore wants to use MY money, and yours, to grow corn that doesn't feed anybody. If biofuel is marketable it would not need government subsidies. Research should be in the private sector. I believe it's a scam because nobody has asked me if I want to do something about it. Instead I'm told I HAVE to do something about it. Give!
The truth doesn't have to be convincing, it merely has to be true. Global Warming put a lot of effort into convincing me, with their hand out. Money is the motive I see for Global Warming activists trying so hard to convince me.
It's not so much that they don't believe. They just get really freaked out that so many people are more united on the global warming issue, than on the so called war on terror.

What about desertification due to deforrestation ,but speeded up by unusual hot Suns.
Water shortage .Rising seas
Croploss due to temperature changes ,
Heat and cold weaves that are killing people .
Flasfloods .
Mass exstinction of Flora and fauna ,many animals are becoming sick because of SMALL changes in temperature .
Insects are affected and some are going out of control such as the parasites that are killing the bees.
Vital links in the food chains are disapearing affecting other species further along in the chain.
We are witness to a mass exstinction ,for the first time since the dinosaurs, of the earth's estimated 10 million species, 300,000 have vanished in the past 50 years. each years, 3,000 to 30,000 species become extinct.
Everything is happening so fast it is not possible to monitor things any more.

many People are used to fiction and they feel more comfortable with fairytales instead of the truth.
Many blindly believe that our fate is in Gods hands ,and their focus is on the beautifull heaven.
some Scientists who get paid by politicians have downplayed the facts because solutions are expensive and means change .

Global warming is a very complex collection of many effects
This text only covers some aspects of global warming mainly man made desertification
Industrial contamination ,the contaminating effects of the cities ,is another story
There are natural cycles in the planets life
but mans existance has its effects,and this is increasing with overpopulation,putting strains on Natural resources and increasing contaminations as well as destructions of essential componants the ensure living conditions for all life forms.
In North Africa,India,Mexico ,millions of people are effected by land loss and desertification and some have died as a result.
In china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms, that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert.
The Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and many of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were very few desserts.
Collectively this planet´s arable lands are drying up because of bad farming practices like,over grazing and fertilizers,
Each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
There is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
Each year 70 million more people have to eat and drink and wash
Farmers are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary , over grazing, overpumping deep carbon aquifiers.
RISING SEAS
The northpole is melting ,and we will know it without ice in our life times.
This does not affect the sea level because it is ice that is already in the water.
The melting ice from Green land and the south pole ,are another matter.
if forrest are being exchanged for ashalt,concrete and desserts, what is gonna keep this planet habitable for us.
We as humanity can behave in a less stressful manner as far as the Environment is concerned ,but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen.
Climates change, this time we're doing the changing and not a catastrophic disaster. Nature does have a course it runs, the only difference is we're accelerating it.
They scared of the unknown or too ignorant to see anything. And the rest can be blame on politician they know if they admit it they'll have to start fighting it. But most of the factory who pollute the air and water are paying for most of their campaign.
