Global Warming has two sources.
The first source is natural forces over which we have no control.
The second source is from human activity. One of the largest sources of Global Warming caused by human activity is carbon dioxide emissions.
In order to stop Global Warming caused by human activity we would have to reduce carbon dioxide emissions world wide by at least 90%.
A reduction of 90% in carbon dioxide emissions would require that we shut down all of our modern economies and return to a primitive hunter gatherer existence.
The only way to achieve a reduction that large is through military force. Most people on this planet would be killed if we attempted such a reduction in carbon dioxide emissions.
The people who survived would lead very short nasty brutish lives.
The things that we would have to do to eliminate the component of Global Warming that is caused by human activity are so unpleasant, they are far worse than the Global Warming itself.
Fortunately we can mitigate the effects of Global Warming.
The sea levels will rise. Low lying areas can be protected from flooding with dike systems similar to those in use in Holland to hold back the sea.
Hurricanes will become stronger and more frequent. We need to help the poor countries upgrade their disaster preparedness systems.
Droughts will become more frequent and widespread. We need to help the poor countries with supplemental water supplies and desalination plants.
Yes, the mere fact of our existence causes Global Warming. The correct response is to focus on how to mitigate the effects Global Warming.

Yes. The Earth warms and cools in natural cycles, but the present rate of warming is unprecedented, and coincides exactly with when we began putting significant amounts of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere through the burning of fossil fuels.

other simple things you can do to help:
1. change your light bulbs to energy star CFL's
2. Drive less and drive better (plan your errands out to avoid unnecessary trips and fastest routes to save gas)
3. Bring your own canvas bags to the grocery store instead of using paper or plastic
4. unplug electric appliances when not in use
5. Recycle

No. All the evidence points to the fact is does not exist. Even it does exist we did not cause it. Please notice the educational level of those who believe in global warming. Have you noticed that it is the same loons who believe in UFOS or life on Mars. Global warnming is a fad started by Mr Gore to further his political ambitions. 1. Use the old fashion light bulb. The new ones produce 10 times as much carbon and the leading manufacturer is on the environmentalist lists of F rated companies.
2. Contrary to popular belief you should own a car which gets low mpg. This will quicken the demise of oil which will end fossil fuel burning forever.
3 Run your A/C The cool temperature emitted actually lowers the earth's temperature. Ten leading environmentalist told me this. I still don't believe it but I guess if you're an environmentalist you believe it.

To the poster blaming sin. You are wrong but if we keep trying to play god and are so arrogant to think we can control the earth's weather God just might decide to punish us and it might be worse than so called global warming.
That's debatable. Many people say that our use of fossil fuels is contributing to global warming. But human beings have only been on the planet for a short time, and the planet was much warmer back in the age of the dinosaurs than it is today. No dinosaurs were driving cars, although we use the the products dinosaurs to power our cars today. At any rate, I doubt that any of us will live for another 10 million or 100 million years, which is what it will take to verify any theory that humans are responsible for global warming.

Yes some of this is part of a natural cycle, but the natural cycle that has been occuring over the past 2 million years has been based off of CO2 that has naturally been dispursed (by volcanos, glacial retreats, ocean changes etc). Now we as humans are adding CO2 from the fossil fuel resivoir which was created back in the times of the dinosaurs back into the earths atmosphere possibly raising temperatures by 7 degrees celcius.
It is our fault, i wish it wasn't but it is.
Sin is to blame.
