That's why I'm always talking about METHANOL. You make it from biodigesters, and it's better than ethanol because it doesn't require sugar. All we really need is a one-step machine that you put prarie grass in and get methanol out. Make it small enough for individual families to buy and watch people drop out of the oil economy!
well you can find some companies that they are really working with that, not with all the trash but using the waste from the lumber and paper factories, it is a begining...
Dynamotive, a Canadian biofuels developer, announced plans this week to invest up to US$120 million in six plants in Argentina that would use lumber- and paper-industry waste to make biofuel.

With the price of oil these days, making a profit shouldn't be hard.
I would gladdly donate my trash to make energy if someone came a picked it up for free. I pay to have it taken away now. I think most people would be happy to do that. It would be even better if I could get my electric bills reduced because my trash went to make the energy.
The only way to start any business is to find investment capital and people willing to wait for the profit to come. If the government really supported alternative energies, they would match investment dollars for new businesses like this.
Promotion comes with powerful backing. Either the government or industry must choose to lead this effort. If the finances were fairly projected and considerable profit was foreseen backers would come to the discussion table.
The way to make money with anything is to find an unmet need in the marketplace and meet it, for a cost less than the price you can get for it.
There's your problem - the cost of trash-based fuel is still higher, for the time being, than fossil fuels, so it is technically feasible to do this but not profitable in most cases.
You need cheap trash in quantity to convert and customers for whom the resulting fuel is a bargain. Good luck in finding them! If you can find a place where people need fuel, are not well served by the present fossil fuel industry, but where a large amount of trash can be had cheap or free, there is your spot.
