Why are praying mantises important to earth?

Answer:
I buy and use them to help my garden grow and produce well, as they gobble up the bugs that want to gobble my crops.

Mantids and ladybugs are both effective in making sure the chewing and sucking bugs do not make a clean sweep of our crops and all but the peskiest weeds.

In the wild, they also protect the plants that help nature but are vulnerable to the insect pests, so those that escape my garden I am glad for, as they keep the woods next door in better shape.

And if you are lucky, they will reproduce on their own then, year after year, and keep protecting.
I believe because they eat pesky bugs, so they cut down on your insect problem.
I don't know if they are important to "earth." However, they are important in our world of bugs! I haven't seen any in so long! They are such an interesting creature.
They keep the bad bugs from getting out of control, so always be kind to this awsome little kicker, watch them for awhile I'm sure you'll get some insight.
I think trying to rate the importance of certain creatures on earth is the wrong approach. As humans, we want to rate and value things. But bugs, spiders, and snakes can't really be prioritized by our value perceptions. All these creatures are simply part of the vast diversity of life here.
