I live in a hot state, and I wanna learn everything I can on solar energy...?

Answer:
First things first...there are three types of solar energy, passive, active, and photovoltaic. Photovoltaic is what most people think of when they think of solar power...they're solar panels.

Passive solar is the placement of windows, trees, etc. to maximize the heating (or cooling via blocking) that a building will recieve naturally from the sun.

Active solar is used mostly for heating and hot water generation. They're basically a system of black piping placed on a roof to generate hot water, which is then stored in the house to heat it and/or be used for consumption.

So I guess it depends on what exactly you want to do. If you want to generate electricity, look into photovoltaic. If you just want to heat your house, stick with either passive or active.

Hope that gets you heading in the right direction.
its very expensive
Just learn from the graphics shows on the www.santanaeffect.com there you'll see the solar projects of southern spain.
Tapping solar energy is though expensive when you install it but its actually cheaper in the long run.
You can purchase a solar cooker:
Nutrition value of the food does not go down as with conventional cooking, you can leave the cooker with the food and do your work do not need to stand near it. It saves a lot.
But the down side is you will have to plan what you plan to eat in dinner in the afternoon :). Also you cannot cook everything in it.

You can install a solar water heater (with an option of electric heating)
That is very good actually. Though you are in hot state but you may be using hot water for cooking, washing dishes and clothes etc. If you install a solar water geyser that will actually help you cut down on electricity significantly. And if in winter you feel the water is not hot enough you can heat it more with electric option that will still save electricity.

You can use solar powered lighting system.

Now that is probably the most expensive but it works well for the outside lights, garden lights etc. It has very less maintainence and does not consume electricity :).
