I've heard of adopting children. I've even heard of adopting a pet. But, adopting Global Warming? Huh?
I think we already adopted it, now we have to get rid of it.

Global warming is not something we can adapt ourselves to. Its a threat since there will be a point where we cannot physically bear the changes due to global warming. At this stage all we can do is try and delay the effects by becoming more concious about it.

First, get the laws on adoption changed, so inanimate objects and concepts are legally adoptable.
Then you need to do the paperwork, and feed and clothe and educate Global Warming, so it becomes mature and strong and can be let go to make its own way in the world.
Or, if you want to adapt, try:
1. Stop fighting it, especially in panic.
2. Stomp out the megafirms and the smaller ones who are profiteering on the anti-GW frenzy.
3. Make international rules that do not discriminate or allow the poor to be crushed down and exploited. Needs a BIG reform in the UN!!
4. Change our educational system from being politically correct to being accurate and complete in the education of our children and adults.
5. Start planning for having to move cities...can start building even now in "safe" places. Reject temporary solutions such as huge dikes to allow people to live below sea level, for example. Look what happened in New Orleans.
6. Start teaching aquaculture so we can grow fish, shellfish, and edible seaweeds in the shallow ocean extensions to be.
7. Fund space research like we now do Carbon Credits, to get power from space and move polluting manufacturing into space where the pollution expands away, or can be rocketed into the sun for disposal. Read Ben Bova, "The High Road"

8. Start developing crops to take advantage of a hi-CO2, warm, long growing season climate.
9. Prepare to copy the Vikings and move into areas as the ice melts and start using them.
10. Sever the political influences in the Climate Research programs, and stop forcing good people out because of politically incorrect opinions and findings, and keep the results open to scrutiny, even by the public.
I personally do not fear it; I think it has immense potentials, as shown by the past such periods when arts and economies flourished. Let us learn from history, not be afraid of political bogeymen, and for goodness sakes, give children balanced facts, not one sided terror films! That type of "political correctness" borders on child abuse!!

its a major concern!! though late to respond, but we still hav time to mend our ways!! so be a part of the revolution and help save our earth!!
If we all did one small thing on the list; there would be a tremendous change in the entire world.
So many claim to be animal protectors and lovers. We need to do our part to help the polar bears and the penguins have the climate they need. They were born to live where there is ice and snow. It is becoming like spring time where they live. There are no other places where there is ice and snow to move them. They need our help.
It won't cost anyone very much money. Only enough to make our home environment safer for us and the world. The cost of a few light bulbs would make a tremendous difference.
The bulbs are made to last for 8 years of use. 12,000 hours. They don't go out...they just get dimmer. I have them all over my house. It even helps on our electric bill. You will have a noticeable reduction according to how many light bulbs you replace. Some changes have helped up to 50 to 60 %. We all can do our part to help our world.
