Global Warming? What Happened to Global Cooling?

What happened to Global Cooling?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/global_cool...

Besides all the studies on emissions, and green house gas effects, and Al Gore and all the other stuff. What factual proof does anyone have this is not a normal Earth cycle?

No opinions, just facts??

Answer:
Global warming facts:

Global warming is not a theory; it is a loose set of hypotheses that makes it easy claim a "consensus" (kinda the way movie ads will take the blurb out of a review that makes the movie sound great even if the reviewer didn't like the movie overall); it makes it harder to disprove when the "theory" is an ever changing ball of goo...why the new catch phrase is "global climate change".

Global warming is meaningless without computer models. And they won't release these models for critical review. The one time that they did - the infamous "hockey stick" generator - it was so thoroughly debunked that it disappeared from the latest IPCC report with no explanation given. Would you board an airplane with pilots who had never flown a real airplane but spent tons of time with flight simulators? How about undergo surgery with a surgeon who had never operated on humans, but had trained on computer simulations?

Even though precise temperature measurements are available through satellites, ground-based temperature stations are still the primary source for global warmers. This is despite unchallenged "urban heat island effects" which naturally skew temperature values higher year round. Satellite data failed to show a warming trend over the last 5 years.

All carbon in the carbon cycle cannot be accounted for, and we're not talking a few tons here or there, we're talking about gigatons - more than half the excess amount humans reportedly produce.

Not to fear, our intrepid researchers think they've almost got it figured out, using - guess what? Computer models.

I could go on, but you get the drift.
I remember my high school science teacher telling us that science had a lot of evidence the earth was slowly headed for an ice age. 1970s
I agree with you sort of, it probably is just a cycle except the fact that we have made it much worse.
Global cooling was not a serious thing. Just a few guys with a theory and no data, much like the skeptics of today. Quote from the website you listed:

"This hypothesis never had significant scientific support"

Here's a nice picture of the scientific proof that, about 40 years ago, man took over control of climate from the natural forces which controlled normal Earth cycles before (the Source is below) :

No other theory can explain the observed data. The numbers don't work. Which is why (the key word is "quantitative"):

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."

Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

"climate science from climate scientists"
Put your glowball on the stove, its warming. In the fridge, its glowball cooling. Makes about as much sense as Al Gore does.. seriously...
first the volcanoes errupt then it's global warming followed by a dust storm and then it gets cold.
Jerry Mahlman, Comments on Adm. Conrad Lautenbachers “Message From the Under Secretary—Encouragement of Scientific Debate and Transparency Within NOAA” --

"...new scientific insights that have added to the prodigious amount of information gained recently on the scientific understanding of our inexorably warming planet."

Note that this prominent scientist who has worked so long in fluid dynamics and who comes up often in these discussions uses the word "inexorable" in his statement. "Inexorable" means will happen, must happen, not stoppable.

OK..your Global cooling went out when this fact was settled; since it is inexorable, there is nothing we can do to prevent it, and there will never be another cooling time, or ice age.

Dr. Mahlman has said so. So just learn to live with constantly increasing temperatures, no respite, proven by Dr. Mahlman.

All of what we thought was cooling, like the LIA, or 1950-1970, probably was just fantasy or hallucinations, or perhaps plots by those who believe warming is NOT inexorable, to confuse the issue.

This does tie in well with the now completely proven fact that the sun's radiation has nothing to do with the earth's temperature as I just read, new study proves it, forgot where, I think in one of the pro-GW papers cited in another question.

For those who are proposing all these measures to cool the earth, they are doomed to failure...Dr. Mahlman has proven so in this paper. It is the way he has proven Nature to work.

So let's learn to live with it and enjoy getting warmer, inexorably!! And let's get all that history, and the curves showing ice ages, corrected to show the inexorable movement of the Globe ever warmer.
Did you even read the information you linked to? Here's the third sentence in the article on global cooling you linked to: "This hypothesis never had significant scientific support." The answer to your question is obvious, global cooling went away because it was not scientifically proven. On the other hand, global warming DOES have significant scientific support.

Gee, and I bet you thought people here were going to think you are smart...
