I have these bugs that get in my house sometimes. There are black with a hard shell like body. It looks like they might have wings. They have what looks like 6 legs, antennas, and two pinchers on the nose of their body. I live in SE Texas if that helps at all. And I live in a nice neighborhood, with no woods around, but we do have a creek behind our house. Help! I don't want to see pictures, I just want to know what it is!! And why does it have those PINCHERS!! :\
Answer:
It could be a variety of insects. One such type are Boxelder Bugs. Keep in mind that it should not bite you. The pinchers on the snout are probably to eat leaves or bark. Even though you are not in a wooded area, many insects know no man-made boundaries. They can burrow, fly, and stowaway themselves into your home.
sadly i have the same problem. ew ew ew i hate them too. the bugs i see look like HUGE ants and its pretty nasty
Merchant Grain Beetles or Sawtooth Grain Beetles
i live in NC and we have bugs kike that too!! i was told that it is a wood bug. if you have mulch or rocks with poor drainage than you will see these. as for the pinchers they are their sensors. we have our home sprayed 2 times a year for all kinds of creepy crawlers. good luck!!!!
