Does anyone remember Global Cooling?
Answer:
Want to see something funny? Ask a liberal what caused EVERY ice age to recede. Was it cavemen driving SUV's? Was it Cro-Magnons working at sprawling maufacturing plants that were emitting tons of CO2? How did the climate warm then?
Global Cooling of a different kind was proven when all planes in the States were grounded after 9/11. Ambient temperatures rose 3degC+ due to a lack of aircraft vapor trails.
the world is round do you believe that
Global warming is a Natural cycle that has gone out of control because of Human behaviour
And some people are making even worse

I know that Americans egoistically only think something is bad if it directly involves them
other people dying does not count
but for many around the world global Warming has become a big threat
150.000 people dying anually ,and 3500 in Europe alone in 2003,related to Global warming tells us something
3000 species of Animals became exstinct in the last 50

Farmers suffer croploss due to temperature changes (1 degree means already 10% croploss)
the perma frost on the tundras is melting
so are the Glaziers ,the North Pole , Greenland and great chunks of Antarctica have dropped into the sea
We are facing cronic water shortage ,and in India,China ,Africa and Mexico people are forced to drink contaminated water or die of thirst

But dont worry you will cry soon enough when food is hard to get or the price of beer hits the roof because there is not enough uncontaminated water
you people are already drinking contaminated water that you buy in bottles but few are aware of it
There are two separate cases. One is the massive pollution in the middle of the last century. They (the aerosols) actually caused a global cooling by blocking the sun light.
Second, there is a theory, which also is based upon historic events, in which there is a chance that the melting of the antarctic ice cap will cause disruptions in the Thermohaline circulation, of which the Gulf stream is a part. This circulation is what transports heat from the equator to the poles in a 'conveyer belt' equalizing the climate. The driving force is when the warm water from the equator cools as it reaches the poles. It sinks because of increased density as it cools. This sinking is the driving force. If the melting water from the poles is released quickly enough it could lead to a disruption in the sinking by acting as a lid (the melt water has lower density then the salt water of the oceans), blocking this vital part. A a result the poles would cool rapidly and glaciers would build. The increased ice surface would reflect back more sunlight to space, amplifying the effect. Most scientists does not think this is likely to happen but this is a scenario where it is possible that global warming leads to an ice age.
The evidence shows that various natural cycles are not enough, on their own, to create the effects seen today.
i wanst born when people were scared about cooling but ive seen old news reports and articles and frankly im shocked at how short peoples memories are.
The "global cooling" story is a myth. Just a few guys with a theory and no data, much like the skeptics of today. It did not resemble the massive database and consensus of support for global warming, in any way whatsoever. Details:

That's not what Kennedy said. Care to quote his actual statement?
Science has proven that, starting about 40 years ago, Man took primary control of climate away from the natural forces that controlled it previously. None of the other theories explains the measured data. From the Source below:

We need to give it back.
no can u send me a link on my profile?
Yes. I didn't believe it then, but I sure believe in global warming today.
Here is a fair assesment of the scientific issues:
Well, this is what I think about Global Warming and Global Cooling:
I think some where in the years when the dinosours were living Global Cooling started some how and it got colder and colder until it froze the Earth and caused the ice age and it wiped out everything, but the planet, but some people also say some type of comet hit, but I don't know about that comet thing.
So, what I think about Global Warming is if it continus the Earth with get hotter and hotter until it burns up into fire or something, but if that does happen it will not happen in our life time maybe in the waaaaaay future, but if it still continus we might live in so very hotter climits in like 2050 or 2100 or something, but scince some people are working on the planet it might not happen that soon.
I'm just saying that I think the if Global Warming continus then way into the future or somewhere in the future it will be like the ice age, but with fire or something.
Just saying.
Very few scientists predicted that the global cooling (which was due to human aerosol emissions combined with increased volcanic activity) would lead to an ice age. The media blew those few predictions way out of proportion. Climatology was a fairly new science at the time, and most climate scientists knew better than to make long-term claims based on the short-term cooling:
http://gristmill.grist.org/story/2006/11...
Climatology is now nearly 4 decades older. To compare climate predictions in 1970 to climate predictions in 2007 is inherently flawed.
Right, climate science was new in the 1970s but we know everything now. They did predict global cooling and it was for precisely the reason that they predict global warming. It was due to thier hatred of industry and it was blamed on use of petroleum products
Refuse eh? So even if sufficient evidence were provided to alleviate any doubt a rational person could possibly have you'd still refuse to accept it? That sounds like denial to me.
Anyway, about global cooling. You were had. Very few scientists at the time supported the idea (which was based on very little evidence) that the planet would enter another ice age. In fact, there wasn't one single peer reviewed paper written on the subject, just one or two articles in National Geographic and Newsweek.
All this in contrast with global warming theory today, which has almost total acceptance in the scientific community and a great deal of evidence supporting it.
In a way you might say that global cooling was similar to the arguments by by global warming skeptics today. Just one or two fringe scientists without any support from the mainstream scientific community and virtually no evidence backing them up.
Actually-you don't remember any such thing--because no scientist EVER claimed CO2 would cause global cooling.
Let me explain: CO2 has properties--that were known as far back as the 19th century--that make it a heat-trapping gas (the 'greenhoue" effect).
Therefore, anyone with even a rudimentary knowledge of science knows it is PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for cO2 to cause "global cooling."
In other words, all you've shown--like all the so-called "skeptics"--is that you simply know nothing about the issue--except possibly what you heard from idiots like Rush Limbaugh.
