Why is it so hard to get ppl to help out?
"we do not inheret the planet from our parents, we borrow it from our children" -old native american proverb
Answer:
Because we live in a "What's in it for me" society and a lot of the people don't have the vision to see the chaos were creating.
Alot of people have been brought up a certain way and, told that everything on this earth is ment to be used, and that were all going to die some day or another so why not take advantaged of Gods green earth. There is also greed, many of us think that the earth will replenish itself fast but little do we know, we use more then what the earth can actually replenish in 10 years time.
nobody cares. we dont feel the effects, so we dont feel the need to do anything about it.
I think the reason people don't want to "help out" is because we're fed so much crap from the media (and movie stars and athletes) about how terrible things are and then we look at these same people and don't see them practice what they preach so we consider it even more BS. A lot of what we've been told about environmental issues is stuff that is politically based and is a means of furthering someone's personal agenda.
This planet is going to hell in a hand basket and a handful of the population who is "concerned" is not going to be able to rectify the situation. It's going to take a major trauma and by that time, it will be too late.
So, I simply do my part and hope my days are numbered.
It's a lot easier to talk the talk than to walk the walk that they talk.
Would you be willing to live without a refrigerator and air conditioning? Would you be willing to go without heating without burning logs or using the only commercially available heating resources. Can you afford to purchase a solar rooftop and/or geothermal heating/cooling system?
Then do it.
Don't just wait for everybody else.
- That is if you have the extra time and money to do all these things.
* Walk or bicycle
* Get some sled dogs for the winter
I only care about me. I will drive all i want and be as happy all of my life as i ccan be. you live "green" and I'll live happy. I conserve when it helps my wallet. I run as little hot water as i can. I buy the cheapest gas. I turn off ac in the daytime. But i WILL NOT lower my standard of living because you or anyone else says the sky is falling.
The planet doesn't need our help, nor should extinction be automatically considered some horrific thing. Species have been going extinct far longer than humanity has been around... and the reality of the situation is that it has been VERY beneficial to human advancement. How do you think humanity would have fared in direct competition with dinosaurs?
And the counter quote:
"Resources exist to be consumed. And consumed they will be, if not by this generation then by some future. By what right does this forgotten future seek to deny us our birthright?"
Some people just dont care and are ignorent as to the importance of the Environment in relation to our own survival and quality of life .
They do not realise that animals are included as componants in healthy Eco systems .
Religion has not been a good guide ,on the contrary ,
Animals have no soul or feeling so dont feel bad about wiping them out for your pleasure or needs .
Humans are superior seperate beings unconnected to Nature ,which is to be tamed and civilized and on top of that its a gift ,all for free.
And when it is all gone dont worry because a beautifull heaven much better than Earth is awaiting .So their focus is beyond Earth into the sky.
Pagans tend to be much more loving and respectfull of Nature ,
They must ask permission or pay for the privalidge of a kill.Animals are spirit guides or brothers
Even trees have sentiments , Native North Americans dance around a tree chanting that they will cut it down ,and then quickly cut its neighbor ,taking the tree by suprise ,to spare it the pain.
To them and other Pagans around the world ,the Earth is the Paradise which can be enjoyed with out having to die first ,so their focus is down to Earth .
It is no coincidence that so many little old gardening ladies and people with green fingers are Pagan minded
,Although I must say in all fairness that there are also a lot of Christians who love Nature and all it Entails. So my excuses to them they are not included in this observation.
