Has anyone ever cleaned a PUR water filter for re-use?

I'm just wondering if anyone has done this and if so how? It just seems to me there should be a way to recycle them.

Answer:
No, I don't think you can. Once the carbon inside has been used up filtering all the junk out of the water, it's spent. Since you can't take the carbon out of the filter and replace it, the fitler is useless.
I've worked with manufacturers on this and they are not recyclable and not reusable. They are designed and constructed for one use as the manufacturer wants you to have to keep buying more. Some day they may package a kit to change them, but it won't be any cheaper than just buying a new one.

It's a bit of a scam on their part.
