Incontinence?

How many incontinent adults use cloth diapers instead of disposables? Did you even know they make cloth diapers in adult sizes?

Answer:
Studies show that 15-20% of all adults over the age of 65 are to some degree incontinent - and that many of them are otherwise healthy people. Adult diapers, or incontinence supplies, are not covered by Medicare, and yet, like the baby diapers, they can cost $100 per month. With the average social security benefit hovering around $875/month, seniors can’t afford this necessity.

The result is that many seniors don’t leave the house, afraid of the embarrassment. The result is that incontinent bedridden or otherwise ill adults are more likely to suffer from elder abuse. The result is that incontinence is among the top reasons that seniors are put into nursing homes.
Cloth diapers are cheaper, and are better for the environment. Frequently, folks living in poverty do not have a washing machine, nor do they own a car, which means cloth diapers would have to be added to their laundry load and carried on a bus to the laundromat. A diaper service may or may not be the best answer to this problem, as diapers waiting to be picked up by the service must be stored in a sanitary manner to prevent disease. In a household living with the stresses of poverty, the additional work of providing a sanitary environment for their used diapers may not be a priority.

As for diapers and the environment, the University of Arizona's garbology program has proven that it is not just diapers that do not degrade in a landfill, but newspapers and even produce! In an anaerobic environment such as a compacted landfill, diapers are not alone in their inability to vanish back into the earth. Clearly we have a lot of work to do to make our environment more livable as our planet's population continues to increase.
I really dont know about this but its ticks me off when ppl throw these diapers(childrens) all over our parks and in parking lot garbage pails and on our wooded walking trails, its disgusting and a health hazard!
Many incontinent adults use a cloth pad, because they don't want to wear plastic diapers. It's an issue of pride at their age, and I certainly can't blame them.
