So, what about that global warming?

Yep, it's happening, maybe not as fast/slow as everyone thinks, but ya, it's happening. So..why do you not care about earth?..and if you do care about it...why?

I want both sides...of the story.

lol, and don't get ur panties in a bundle if you believe it's a lie.

Answer:
OK. Why do we care about earth?
Our families and other loved ones live here. Our family tree and all the living things and their family trees live here.
But the political and corporate powers hide truth from us, and lie to sell their wars, and their products. They have tested their weapons and drugs on humans in third world countries, damn the risks. Today, resource rape is the norm. Pay for a clean up or restoration? ;-) Sure, it is all fiat currency and double entry accounting... who cares, it is not real.

We discovered the truth, we have the technology to live happily ever after, without harming the planet, or any other human groups. Big and expensive lobbying to confuse the truth of peak oil, global warming.
Corporate lies are important distractions because people often don't realize they are lied to in the first place, to sell products! Hey, their profits need to be replaced with basic compassion for, and understanding of the dynamics of the human habitat. We are a virus, eating our host to death. And ourselves, (obesity). That is my sad opinion, alas.
lol, yeah, people around here have a problem with that ;) anyway I do care about it because i live on it and I would rather live with the climates that we have now rather than a widespread disaster (like the droughts in the southern US.) Things are already changing and it scares me ;) hope this helps!
one who need to protect mother earth need to come to work as one, where one must know that the world doesn't need of our existence to preserve herself but its we who needed her to live yet most humans are still ignorancely young to understand and to come together to care for her.
People just don't want to change, that's why they belive global warming is a lie.

I recently saw The Great Global Warming Swindle, which argues against the scientific opinion that human activity is the main cause of global warming. I thought it was going to be interesting, but most of the facts where false.

The film said current warming is nothing unusual and temperatures were even more extreme during the Medieval Warm Period, a time of great prosperity in Europe.

This was false as current temperatures are higher, and the graphs he used where 20 years old!

The film says that increases in CO2 levels lagged behind temperature increases during glacial terminations.

This was true, but CO2 levels lagged behind temperature increase periods so those temperature increases periods could sustain. And now the sun heat is decreasing, but the world is still heating because we are injecting to much CO2 into the atmosphere.

There are always going to be people that argues against scientific opinion, there are still people that think HIV has nothing to do with AIDS.

I just don't like how people say Global Warming is going to kill us all. I really don't like how Fear campaigning used on any subject.
What's happening? All the indicators of "global warming" are manufactured. With only 180 years of accumulated weather data ( 120 years of which are highly suspect ) it is impossible to make such hysterical predictions. To suggest that "mankind's intrusive use of fossil fuels" as the key contributor to this dilemma is a complete joke. Volcanoes and forest fires have occurred for millions of years. The Mt. St. Helen's eruption alone spewed more CO2 into the air than mankind could do in a million years. But, the "GW" advocates will show you ice caps melting and disoriented birds and bees dying and talk about hurricances. They're relying on your ignorance. In reality, the ice cap is 12 square miles BIGGER this year than last. Birds often become disoriented because of recent construction which impairs their intuition to navigate. Bees tend to die off every 20 years or so because they have been forced to exist beyond their natural habitat ( they're imported ) and the weather service can vouch for the fact that severe trends in hurricanes, tornades and tidal waves is a natural event. The disaster ratio has increased only because people are foolish enough to live in the path of these storms.
No, Global Warming is a fraud. It's just another exercise in getting you to believe you're guilty of something so that you'll reach into your pocket and fork over money to today's modern charletons.
Thank you for your question. All Ime concerned about is future generations. But some selfish people just live for today and say to hell with future consequences, sorry.
yea totally i can't believe it either. i look back at 2 years ago abd it was pretty good, still getting worse though.

Yep its happening, but we cant do anything about it. I mean people go on and on about co2, but if u looked at the science you would see that other factors like sun spots have a larger impact.

And can any one explain why between 1945-80 there was cooling even tho there was the post war boom and co2 levels were increasing.

Al gores documentary showed a relationship between temperature and co2 but failed to mention that as the earth get warmer co2 increases. CO2 doesn't effect the temperature, temperature effects co2.
yes
I find it interesting that there are so many people on here that say, "it's happening" or "the information was false" or who make some other claims like they were directly involved in the research of global warming. You're relying on wikipedia or Michael Moore or even some other, more tenuous source, and touting it like you know it to be fact. The truth is that you don't know any of this to be true.
All you need to do is apply some common sense to the basic physical science that you can learn from any modern text book, and you'll see that none of this garbage adds up. Do you want to think for yourselves or be like a bunch of sheep?
yes global warming is true.

Global warming is the increase in the average temperature of the Earth's near-surface air and oceans in recent decades and its projected continuation. In a broader sense, global warming can refer to any evident average increase in the temperature of the Earth (or any other celestial body) whether this change occurs in the present or in any historic or geologic time scale. The opposite effect is global cooling.

Global average air temperature near the Earth's surface rose 0.74 ± 0.18 °C (1.33 ± 0.32 °F) during the past century. The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) concludes, "most of the observed increase in globally averaged temperatures since the mid-20th century is very likely due to the observed increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gas concentrations,"[1] which leads to warming of the surface and lower atmosphere by increasing the greenhouse effect. Natural phenomena such as solar variation combined with volcanoes have probably had a small warming effect from pre-industrial times to 1950, but a small cooling effect since 1950.[2][3] These basic conclusions have been endorsed by at least 30 scientific societies and academies of science, including all of the national academies of science of the major industrialized countries. The American Association of Petroleum Geologists is the only scientific society that rejects these conclusions.[4][5] A few individual scientists disagree with some of the main conclusions of the IPCC.[6]

Climate models referenced by the IPCC project that global surface temperatures are likely to increase by 1.1 to 6.4 °C (2.0 to 11.5 °F) between 1990 and 2100.[1] The range of values reflects the use of differing scenarios of future greenhouse gas emissions and results of models with differences in climate sensitivity. Although most studies focus on the period up to 2100, warming and sea level rise are expected to continue for more than a millennium even if greenhouse gas levels are stabilized.[1] This reflects the large heat capacity of the oceans.

An increase in global temperatures may in turn cause other changes, including sea level rise, and changes in the amount and pattern of precipitation resulting in floods and drought. There may also be changes in the frequency and intensity of extreme weather events, though it is difficult to connect specific events to global warming. Other effects may include changes in agricultural yields, glacier retreat, reduced summer streamflows, species extinctions and increases in the ranges of disease vectors.

Remaining scientific uncertainties include the exact degree of climate change expected in the future, and how changes will vary from region to region around the globe. There is ongoing political and public debate regarding what, if any, action should be taken to reduce or reverse future warming or to adapt to its expected consequences. Most national governments have signed and ratified the Kyoto Protocol aimed at combating greenhouse gas emissions.
Science has proven that global warming is real and 80-90% caused by us. The "garbage that doesn't add up" is the skeptical theories. They're all refuted here:

http://environment.newscientist.com/chan...

Greenhouse gases as a cause is the only theory that does add up. From the Source below:

Which is why:

There's vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:

Note the crucial word "quantitative" in the quote.

"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point. You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
