Do you believe in Martin Durkin's claims in his latest documentary 'Great Global Warming Swindle'?
But he was right about one thing, Global Warming is becoming more and more of a overly-politicalized issue. Sometimes it seems that politicians used 'Global Warming' in an effort to make themselves look good.
I'm still a believer in Global Warming though but what do you think about this 'controversial' documentary?
Answer:
I actually fell asleep during it (which was a bit annoying as I wanted to watch it) but from what I saw of it I didn't agree with him. He was right about saying that the sun is important in regulating the climate but studies have shown that temperatures have been rising over the past few decades and that it is linked with anthropogenic forcings (man-made).
One thing that really annoyed me was how he kept saying "CO2 blah blah blah," when carbon dioxide is NOT the only factor to our present climate change!!
His claims were bollocks, all his graphs where 20 years old,
The Sun does control the temperature to an extent, but Sunspots have decreased over the last 20 year yet the temperature keeps rising...and so those C02.
Martin Durkin seems like the average male, afride of change and wants every woman to have BIG BREASTS!
It's wrong. There's a lot more to know about it in the links below.
It is simply a political statement which distorts science. The director has a history of putting out misleading stuff. In 1997 he made a series for Channel 4 called “Against Nature”, which compared environmentalists with Nazis. Channel 4 had to apologise for the misleading stuff in that one. The present movie is also a distortion of the science. More here:
"A Channel 4 documentary claimed that climate change was a conspiratorial lie. But an analysis of the evidence it used shows the film was riddled with distortions and errors."

Gore's movie may be a little over dramatic, but it has the basic science right. This movie does not.
Channel 4 itself undercuts the movie in a funny way. If you go to their website on the movie you find links to real global warming information. They also have a way to "Ask the Expert" about global warming. The questions go to a respected mainstream scientist who supports (mostly) human responsibility for global warming.
So, why did Channel 4 broadcast it?
"The science might be bunkum, the research discredited. But all that counts for Channel 4 is generating controversy."

I didn't see it, but what do you think I would think?
I think it (along with Inconvenient Truth), is a propaganda piece, and shouldn't be bothered with. Even if you don't accept GW theory (which I do) the film is pathetic. It uses the same rehashed arguments scientists refuted decades ago. Some of them were the same arguments made when the theory was first created last century. And as if that weren't bad enough, one of the scientists who appeared in the film (Carl Wunsch) is demanding that the producers remove his name from the project entirely. Saying that he was mislead as to the nature and content of the film and would not have agreed to appear if the producers had been honest with him. He called the film a piece of "outright propaganda".
I don't think that they've done any better at "figuring out" global warming than the others that believe they have all the answers. What they do manage to do well is pull the mask off of the way ideas pushed upon us by the IPCC and other advocates of a man-made cause, and that this is NOT good science.
Some of the scientists referenced for Swindle do not like their names associated with this politicization, and I applaud them. But you won't see those scientists being savaged for not supporting the skeptics' view...unlike the way that every scientist who becomes a skeptic is treated like a pariah.
