What charities accept (& will pick up) furniture donations?
Thanks so much to anybody w/ info!
p.s. I know this might not quite seem to fit under 'Environment', but I thought it kind of did, in light of re-using, instead of throwing away.
Answer:
Call your local battered women's shelter, they should be able to arrange for it to be picked up and they will give you a tax-deductible receipt for your donation. I was helped immensely at a very difficult time in my life and I donate everything to them now including shoes, clothes, dishes and anything that I don't use any more. And I am trying to work it into my schedule to volunteer. It goes to a good cause. Or you can call United Way because they can direct you to a legitimate biz , or your local churches take donations for people that are trying to recover from hard times. Give it where it feels right in your heart. Good question
good will and salvation army do, but they come and inspect the furniture first to see if they can sell in in their stores
Salvation Army comes to mind, as does the St Vincent De Paul Society. Not sure if they're local to you though.
Salvation Army or Purple Heart. also check with church organizations in your neighborhood.
