How should I advertise my "environmental" website?

I have started a website (20days.org) which focuses on what I guess you could call an "action" or "initiative" involving the reduction of fuel use. It is a pro-environment concept, but it shares focus with the health and financial benefits. I'd like to get as many people to participate as I can so that it might foster a community of sorts that would be interested in continuing less consumptive habits.

What would be the best way to spread the word?

Answer:
Email every news station you can think of and tell them about your site (from New York stations to Kansas stations to California stations and everywhere else and not just one network, all of em). Hope that they will help you get the word out, they tend to grab onto that kind of stuff.

Post on lots of message boards

maybe some ads in cheap local papers

buy ad space on other websites

Post flyers

Best of luck
Go to www.greenmatrix.net.
Pu tup flyers on campuses and other places. Go to different forums and pm people. Add as much as you can so search engines start picking up your site.
I think it would help if you could advertise your website on Yahoo's front page. How? Maybe you could contact Yahoo! and tell them about it. I'm sure you can find a number to call them.

Another way could be to go to Yahoo's chat rooms and say "Check this out!" followed by a link to your website.

Also, be sure to tell all your friends and family and ask them to pass the word.

Hope this helps. Good luck! And I will check out your website and share it with my friends too! I think what you are doing is great!
In place of being an "activist", apply your effort towards understanding the science behind the envronmental claims being made by the activists. Loud voices, mobs, and slick marketing are no substitute for scientific validity. For example, clean drinking water is not available in much of the world, so you could focus on getting filtration technology to those poor folks this instead of playing the "activist game", which is vastly more popular here in the comfort of home.
this website helps... just from this question... aslo you could do cool t-shirts or bracelets... if you have myspace, or even if you don't, you could make a banner for people to put on the page
You mean spread the manuer?
talk to them at yahoo search marketing so that you will come up higher in the search when people search your subject. it will be worth it to be high up / be a sponsored search. a little money will get you what you want much faster! good luck! peace!
myspace!!. or on text messg. include some simple facts. and have them pass along to spead out awareness.
ask any like-minded website to post a link
Post flyers at grocery stores, conveinent marts, etc., set out business cards and brochures, or maybe contact your local radio station to ask for some help getting the word out. It's for a good cause so there shouldn't be a problem.
