Why can't people burn wood to heat homes? It is after all "above ground carbon".?

seems like global warming comes from burning carbon that is no longer in the "biosphere". So for true carbon neutrality, should we consider heating with wood?

Answer:
You can burn wood to heat your home... my parents do it and they live in Northern Wisconsin.
yes totally assuming you are replanting trees then or the nature grows them back.
Wood is one of the largest carbon neutral energies

Indeed burning wood is even climate friendly and reduces the global greenhouse gases concentration
How ? If you don“t use the wood, it is going to decay and first produce methane which has a 14 times higher greenhouse power compared to CO2. After decades only the CH4 (methane) would turn into CO2. By shortening the methane path, you reduce the greenhouse effect. And this is done by burning wood.
because can cause air pollutions to our neighboorhood.
They can wood heated boilers are already available but u need a lot of wood and the running costs will not be cheap. Unless u have a forest
Some people do heat their homes with wood. But this also brings in another question. Where are you going to get the wood for all of those homes? If everyone heated their homes only through wood fires all the trees on the planet would be gone in only a few decades. Global warming won't have time to kill us if we take all the oxygen producing forests away.
Ahhh! Now you're talking about 'sustainability.'

That means that we need to reduce the number of people on the planet needing to heat homes to the level that the trees we have can sustain indefinitely.

So, 95% of the population in areas where there are cold seasons should depart for another planet, asap.

Then your solution will work . . . .
only if you use dead branches
does everybody have enough dead branches ,and when those run out ,will you get cold or start cutting down trees ,not to mention the smoke
