Strange barking/howling noise at night?
or does anyone know of any good sites online with sound bites the could help me possibly identify this sound? it is becoming very irritating!
Answer:
Believe it or not, I think I know exactly what that noise is. It is most likely a red fox. I live in an area with a small creek in my back yard with lots of trees also, and every roughly third year, we get a few foxes that stroll by during the winter time. They do make this weird barking like noise. Don't be upset, because they are very timid beatiful creatures. I caught a picture one time, and they're somewhat of a rarity now. Also, foxes can be great for keeping pests such as raccoons, opposoms, and other animals from looking at your house as an opportunity for food.
If it is a high pitched bark sound it is coyotes.
Yup, sounds like coyotes.
I'd say raccoons fighting.. it sounds like an imitation of a dog bark..
cats fighting or 'singing'(if its their season). I had to cats fighting outside my window one night, and i never ran so fast in my life, it was like a baby crying or someone screaming/growling...
