Global Warming?
Whats your guys opinons?
Answer:
Global Warming is a HUGE issue today, Why do you think MTV advertised "break the addiction" all the time? But whether or not idiots want to believe it or not...I think people don't want to believe because they fear they have to give up some of they're precious luxurys.
The problem is we as humans living in the U.S. today are very spoiled..and the though of riding your bike to the convient store instead of driving is scary to some people..so it makes them not want to believe...but believe or not Global Warming is in process, and whether we as humans are the ones creating noone really knows..even if we aren't we do have a big role in it, and we are speeding up the process.
There are ways to prevent it though...like recycling...it does more than you think. Don't keep a light on in the middle of the day when the sun is bright and shiny and you can see perfectly fine without it.get a fuel efficient vehicle, If you have access to a side walk ride your bike to town and get your needs every now and again (it's good excersise too) Don't waste paper. We need to be more rescourful with fuel also..because Global Warming or not...we are running out of fossil fuels..and once it's gone...it's gone.
Even though alot of people believe this isn't an issue..why wouldn't you want to be green anyway? Wouldn't it be nice to live in a less poluted cleaner world?

Opinions don't matter. This is science and what counts is the data.
"I wasn’t convinced by a person or any interest group—it was the data that got me. I was utterly convinced of this connection between the burning of fossil fuels and climate change. And I was convinced that if we didn’t do something about this, we would be in deep trouble.”
Vice Admiral Richard H. Truly, USN (Ret.)
Former NASA Administrator, Shuttle Astronaut and the first Commander of the Naval Space Command
Here are two summaries of the mountain of peer reviewed data that convinced Admiral Truly and the vast majority of the scientific community, short and long.

It's (mostly) not the sun:
http://solar-center.stanford.edu/sun-on-...
And the first graph aboves shows that the sun is responsible for about 10% of it. When someone says it's the sun they're saying that thousands of climatologists are stupid and don't look at the solar data. That's ridiculous.
Science is quite good about exposing bad science or hoaxes:
http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~dst/atg/polywater...
There's a large number of people who agree that it is real and mostly caused by us, who are not liberals, environmentalists, stupid, or conceivably part of a "conspiracy". Just three examples of many:
"Global warming is real, now, and it must be addressed."
Lee Scott, CEO, Wal-Mart
"Our nation has both an obligation and self-interest in facing head-on the serious environmental, economic and national security threat posed by global warming."
Senator John McCain, Republican, Arizona
“DuPont believes that action is warranted, not further debate."
Charles O. Holliday, Jr., CEO, DuPont
There's a lot less controversy about this is the real world than there is on FunQA.com:
http://www.worldpublicopinion.org/pipa/a...
And vastly less controversy in the scientific community than you might guess from the few skeptics talked about here:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/scientific_...
http://www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/fu... and:
"There's a better scientific consensus on this [climate change] than on any issue I know... Global warming is almost a no-brainer at this point,You really can't find intelligent, quantitative arguments to make it go away."
Dr. Jerry Mahlman, NOAA

"climate science from climate scientists"
Global Warming is definitely in process. Whether or not WE as a Civilization are contributing to it is the debatable question.
If I were you I would focus on a smaller scale such as the Homeless, the elderly, Poor, etc.
'-)
If its fake, it doesnt matter.
If its true and man made noone will stop it. It will stop itself real soon when the oil and natural gas start to run out (and they already are running out).
If its a natural phenomena... bummer.
It is a normal part of the cycle process that takes place on the planet and has fluctuated for hundreds of millions of years. The oceans have risen and lowered as the ice caps and shelf extends over land. This has happened many times. The Earth was also much greener back when the dinosaurs were around due to much higher CO2 levels. You see, CO2 along with sunlight and water is what plants need to grow and make oxygen. So, in reality, it would be better to have even more greenhouse gases like CO2 to encourage new plant growth. People are just looking to jump on the bandwagon of propaganda that our government spews out to the public to assist them in the long term goals.
Here...check out this website that's run by some really good scientists from Harvard-Smithsonian and professors from other prestigious institutes all over North America, www.friendsofscience.org. They really put up convincing and (reluctantly) UN Climate Report backed data that shows that Global Warming is natural and normal. They totally convince me that the cause of this natural temperature flucuation is the most simple source, the sun. For instance, for centuries, the sun has always intensified and weakened its radiation upon the earth, thus causing temperatures to change from century to century. During the 1400's, the Medieval Warming period took place, when temperatures were 3-4 degrees warmer than they are today! And after that during the 1700-1800's, we went through a little known Little Ice Age, when the temperatures dropped 1-2 degrees. Right now, we're only coming out of an ice age, so no wonder our temperatures are higher than they were 100-200 years ago. Which explains why they're still completely normal. And besides, in the sixties, when industry was reaching a peak, and carbon emissions were at an all time high, the temperature actually dropped! Scientists actually thought that we were going to go through another ice age. Yet, during the same time, the sun's rays weakened, thus proving that it was in direct correlation to the temperatures here on earth. So, to conclude, global warming isn't man-made, it's completely natural, caused by the sun.
Forget about Global warming. Just think about the impact of humanity in just, let's say 100 years. We have to understand the rate of how we consume oil and non renewable resources
and produce so much waste. The fact that for a dollar you can get a McDonald and not a couple of natural tomatoes. The fact that we deforest Brazil, and let animals become extinct in Africa, etc.
It's not bull pal. This is the real deal. Earth is losing its ozone layer very fast and we're gonna be in big trouble if this keeps up. We need to decrease our carbon emissions asap. What you can do is buy a fuel efficient car. Ever seen Day after Tomorrow? Not a fantasy if this keeps up, I'm not even kidding.
Psh it's happening, and nobody can stop it.
People caused it , so people should suffer for being so self-centered and money hungry. This could of been prevented a long time ago.but no of course not.
Do something productive and worth your time..go Vegan.
Just do the things that will save yourself money to start.
Recycle, and reuse what you can.
insulate your home well
use an auto that gets better as mileage
change your light bulbs to CFLs.
When you start seeing the savings, and you want to do the things that cost money, like solar panels and such, do it.
If not, you are still doing more than most people are doing today, to save the environment just by doing the things that isn't going to cost you, but save you money.
Here is my help for denialists which them some respect and gives them long term perspective . ...
Dear CC denialists... I welcome your skepticism...
Denial of climate change is your right (though I am a believer in CC)
However, it's always smart to have a fall-back strategy and plan - water is getting scarcer so - save water for your selves at least.
And give some thought to this - if you are wrong, obfuscation of the debate and a fossil-hungry lifestyle will be partly responsible for the misery of millions of people and the extinction of millions of species ...
Happy water collecting .. ..
K :-)
I pasted this from one of my other answers:
Some believe that man has put too much CO2 and other Greenhouse gases into the atmosphere causing it to retain more heat over time. Personally, I don't believe this to be the case, but that doesn't stop me from doing my part to help the environment.
Things you can do to help the environment are, not so coincidentally, also the same kinds of things that will allegedly slow down GW:
Conserve energy - changing driving habits, car-pooling, efficient cars, energy-saving home appliances, reassessing your heating and cooling needs, and many more...
Reducing consumption - reassess your true needs - the less you consume, the less energy expended by factories, farms, and transportation; the more resources available to others who may not be fortunate to have plentiful resources; grow your own produce, buy locally, buy in season; buy used, recycle, sell, or give away items you no longer have a need for; again, many more...
Keep in mind that some people will do more than you, some quite a bit less or not at all. Don't let that distract you from doing the best you can. When you can, volunteer your time or resources towards the environment. Many neighborhoods organize in an effort to make your portion of the community as clean and green as possible.
You don't have to wear the environmental equivalent of a "hair shirt" or take some vow of poverty. Maintain the priorities in life that make you feel purposeful, just try to include a concern for the planet we all share.
And S.C.: good site!

global warming is bs.. its a vehicle for taxation and control.. how do i know thats the case?? al gore thats how.. he lied about love story, he lied about he internet, hes lying about this as well.. ive been around a while.. these same idiots and genius scientists and media types gave us the next ice age scare in the 70's... did you see that charlie dingell is gonna put forth a bill that makes you pay another 50 cents per gallon of gas to off set your carbon usage? ridiculous!
global warming is not caused by man. global warming is natural and there is nothing we can do about it.
scientists had been able to study the ice core data a bit more carefully. When they first measured the data, their time resolution was pretty course, so the two lines looked to move together. However, with better laboratory procedure, the ice core analysts began to find something funny. It turns out that for any time they looked at in the ice core record, temperatures actually increased on average 800 years before CO2 started to increase. When event B occurs after event A, it is really hard to argue that B caused A.
it turns out, interestingly, that solar irradiance may be close to its highest point in centuries. A new study by the Institute of Astronomy in Zurich says that the "sun is more active now than it has been at anytime in the previous 1,000 years." Related?
Sunspots have been monitored on the Sun since 1610, shortly after the invention of the telescope. They provide the longest-running direct measurement of our star's activity.
The variation in sunspot numbers has revealed the Sun's 11-year cycle of activity as well as other, longer-term changes.
In particular, it has been noted that between about 1645 and 1715, few sunspots were seen on the Sun's surface.
This period is called the Maunder Minimum after the English astronomer who studied it.
It coincided with a spell of prolonged cold weather often referred to as the "Little Ice Age". Solar scientists strongly suspect there is a link between the two events - but the exact mechanism remains elusive.
But the most striking feature, he says, is that looking at the past 1,150 years the Sun has never been as active as it has been during the past 60 years.
Over the past few hundred years, there has been a steady increase in the numbers of sunspots, a trend that has accelerated in the past century, just at the time when the Earth has been getting warmer.
The data suggests that changing solar activity is influencing in some way the global climate causing the world to get warmer.
One of the interesting things about solar output is that, if it is really higher, we should see effects on other planets, not just on Earth. And, in fact, a lot of evidence has been pouring in over the last 5 years from astronomers (not climate guys) that the rest of the solar system has been warming dramatically.
Take Mars, for example. Mar’s ice caps have been melting and diminishing since NASA's Mars Global Surveyor and Odyssey started to measure them around 2002.
Changes in the red spot on Jupiter seem to be a sign of warming temperatures. And Neptunes moon Triton is warming. We have to be careful with how we draw conclusions on these outer planets, since their “year” is so long, seasonal changes can last decades.
God says at Revelation 11:18 that he's "going to bring to ruin those ruining the earth." Mankind is ruining the earth in many ways. Physically, spiritually, and morally. Notice what Jesus said at Matthew 24:21,22. So even though things will get worse in those 3 areas, we can be confident that the true God of the Bible, Jehovah, who cannot lie, will rescue those who exercise faith in his son Jesus Christ.
