Who else thinks this global warming issue has gotten out of hand?
Answer:
You maam are a Heritic! How dare you think the Global Warming buzz phrase attention grabbing political football has gotten out of hand. I think this thing can be milked for decades! Unlike Y2K which had a cut off date. Global Warming is THE cause for the ignorant and environmentaly uneducated.
As long as America lets all the "Experts" do their thinking for them.we are doomed.
I agree! Geez, if their that paranoid, go inside an airconditioned building, why don'tcha?
Our modern society, with massive coastal development and intensive agriculture, is very sensitive to climate. Another degree or two, and we'll be spending huge sums of money dealing with the consequences.
These scientists have "done the research" for years. They're every educated and the know what another degree or two will do.

The warming is accelerating as our production of greenhouse gases is getting way out of control. Starting about 40 years ago, Man's production of greenhouse gases took the control of climate out of natures hands.

We need to give it back.
People have to realize we're on a evolving planet. It freezes and then gets hot then freezes..
I'm with you, it's always a good thing to pollute less. I don't think any rational people are arguing against cleaner energy, less trash, more recycling, etc. I love trees, I'd rather be out in the wilderness than on concrete. I like swimming in clean lakes and beaches.
But the global warming alarmists are way past that. They honestly think we're all going to burn to death within 15 years, the oceans will evaporate, and the polar bears will be washed away. But more than that, they are always so quick to blame everything on humans. I think they really just loathe the human race in general. Bottom line, cars have only been around in abundance for less than a century, yet it's been much hotter on this planet before.
Where did the assumption that 1950 was the optimal climate for all of Earth's history come from, anyway?
"They now say that by preventing cows from burping we can help global warming!"
Who exactly is "they"?
-"AVERAGE 1 degree!!"
-"Now how is that so detrimental to our lives?"
-"So many people are uneducated when it comes to this issue"
Crack a book and read up on the subject to educate yourself instead of asking ill informed questions.
The Weather Makers by Tim Flannery is a good start.
The problem that the green side has with greenhouse gases is the CO2 in the atmosphere. Hundreds of millions of years ago the Earth was covered with lush forests and jungles. The CO2 levels were very high as compared to todays environment. All plants need 3 things to produce oxygen. They need sunlight, water, and CO2. I feel like there a whole lot of people that actually know very little about science and a bunch of propaganda are just jumping on board and don't have a clue. For one thing the ice shelf's have expanded and receded hundreds of times over the millenia. I think everyone should quit making Gore rich and giving MSN something to annoy us with on the homepage.
I do! All those complaints about man-made global warming...And with everyone jumping on the band wagon...ick.
Here...check out this website that's run by some really good scientists from Harvard-Smithsonian and professors from other prestigious institutes all over North America, www.friendsofscience.org. They really put up convincing and (reluctantly) UN Climate Report backed data that shows that Global Warming is natural and normal. They totally convince me that the cause of this natural temperature flucuation is the most simple source, the sun. For instance, for centuries, the sun has always intensified and weakened its radiation upon the earth, thus causing temperatures to change from century to century. During the 1400's, the Medieval Warming period took place, when temperatures were 3-4 degrees warmer than they are today! And after that during the 1700-1800's, we went through a little known Little Ice Age, when the temperatures dropped 1-2 degrees. Right now, we're only coming out of an ice age, so no wonder our temperatures are higher than they were 100-200 years ago. Which explains why they're still completely normal. And besides, in the sixties, when industry was reaching a peak, and carbon emissions were at an all time high, the temperature actually dropped! Scientists actually thought that we were going to go through another ice age. Yet, during the same time, the sun's rays weakened, thus proving that it was in direct correlation to the temperatures here on earth. So, to conclude, global warming isn't man-made, it's completely natural, caused by the sun. So yeah, it's gotten way out of control.
Oh, just a side note, the Kyoto Protocol, the program the world plans to use to reduce the temperature, is at best going to lower the temperature by 0.6 degrees. At the cost of 1 billion dollars. Wow.

yes and you are one of them.
there are a few different isotopes of carbon, that contribute to creating CO2.
of them, one of them was very rare when the earth was covered in plant life. It was most abundant when the radation of the sun was not blocked by an ozone layer.
Plants consume very little if any of this isotope(if i remember right it is carbon14-O2). know where it is most abundant?? in our atmosphere, and in fossil fuels. And it is rising in our atmosphere. this is the CO2 the green movement wants to eliminate. When referring to it, it is just easier to refer to it at CO2.
I may have not remembered the correct carbon isotope, but the rest of this statment is scientifically sound.
and no the global warming movement hasn't gotten out of hand, just a few half-wits who try to convince themselves that going green means going back to horse and buggy, so they are fighting everything to do with it.
It has got out of hand.

[A bunch of gibberish about C14...]
Please excuse yourself. You have no idea what you are talking about. C14 is(was) a naturally occurring isotope of carbon present in all living things. Because it is ubiquitous and undergoes decay (to harmless nitrogen), it is used in the process of carbon-dating. The reason we say "was" is that above-ground atomic tests increased the amount of C14 in the atmosphere - natural balance permanently altered.
I won't even go into C13 and the differing uptake between C4 and C3 photosynthetic pathways.
In the words of the rapper Akon at the free earth concert :
"Support global warming !!"
And lets not forget K.T. Tunstel :
"Do something good for the earth...eat more soil "
Yeah, sounds like 'ol Al Gore really got some ultra intellectuals to support his cause. I think it pretty much represents the whole Global warming crowd. Just blurt something out. Who cares how much sense it makes, or how correct it is. Just give us some money, through my face on T.V., and put my name on every newspaper in the world. That way when I decide to run for president(Al Gore) people will be used to seeing my name and therefore will end up voting for me, because God knows most people don't really do enough research on a candidate to know anything about them, they just vote for who they have heard the most from.
