Was the slaughter of the American Buffalo "environmental foresight"?
Should we try the same thing for all wild hoofed animals? Sorry Kenya, your CO2 emissions are too high. Please kill more wild zebras.
Answer:
Well, it's methane, not CO2 that is the problem with cows. And grazing bison put out less CH4 than grain-fed cattle, so "NO".
We also killed without using the meat, letting it decay yo the atmosphere.
No. We were trying to starve the Natives to death.
Were Hitler and Stalin trying do the same thing?
The problem is not CO2 from cows. That CO2 was recently taken from the air by plants the cows eat. That's part of the "natural cycle" and doesn't contribute to global warming. The problem is methane, particularly from artificial things like huge feedlots.
This is actually serious business. Farms in general are a large cause of global warming. And proper management techniques can reduce that contribution. Many scientists are working hard on it. Here are two examples of the work:

Animal flatulence is considered a natural emission rather than an unnatural emission and does not count towards the problem of global warming. For example when Mount St. Helens erupted it emitted more greenhouse gases than all the vehicles that have ever traveled Americas roads since the invention of the automobile and then some. But that is a natural and not a man-made emission. Trying to somehow reduce natural emissions if it were possible so that this hypothetically allows us to produce more man-made emissions is foolish. If the American buffalo were never hunted at all in the Old West we would be right where we are at right now in the climate change situation, no better and no worse off. It would have made no difference in the levels of various gases in our atmosphere and so on.
No! Buffalo's were hunted by native Americans for food..clothing..and shelter making materials. We came along and slaughtered them for greed. The start of the American way. We are just now seeing what the things we did were the beginning of some things we might not be able to repair. Sorry...I could have made that sentence into better English form...but I got pissed off. We screwed up and now we are paying for it.
