Good point. Even if it is a scam, I'd rather have a scam that gets people to be more environmentally friendly than a scam that gets them to do otherwise.
No, not a scam. It is a cycle of the earth that is just now being observed and recorded. Man made emissions are contributing, to be sure.

Actually when we look at the whole picture, many cars now sold that are environmentally safer are cheaper then say a caddy CTS! Even many sports cars.
Light bulbs, well replacing with Flourescent bulbs at 100 puts out just as much light as Incandescent, but last ALOT longer, and only consumes 28 watts of power "Verses 100 watts for Incandescent" this reduces our monthy electric bill, which means the power plant does not have to push out as much power!! More effecient in many ways. I have replaced almost the whole home with the lights now, and they are fantasic!
I read about the Polar Bears, the ice bergs are melting falster then ever and Polars are drowing. Many are starving. Many can't swim far for food. The ice is warming far too quickly.
I don't think this is a scam at all. It's very real. We have more people and more energy on the planet than ever before. We are indeed ruining it.

I THINK that the government is using "global warming" as a money making scheme. We may possibly have a slight effect on global warming (0.1%) according to some scientists, but to think that the human race can halt or reverse global warming, a natural cyclic event, is absolute rubbish and unbelievable arrogance, We are coming to the end of an ice age, and guess what - at the end of an ice age the planet warms up. They have been studying the hole in the ozone for over 20 years. The expansion and shrinkage is well documented. The hole is a natural occurrance, but it's growth is increased due to the actions of humans.

I think global warming is very real. I think it is inevitable and not entirely caused by humans. However, we are ACCELERATING it at a very rapid pace. That is the problem. Although we cannot stop global warming there are a lot of things that we can do to slow it down. Every one of us needs to take responsibility.
I drive a very fuel efficient car, recycle, walk instead of drive whenever possible, and I am very conscious of the amount of energy I consume. I know that there are still more things that I can and should do. We all need to do our part.
As far as people making money from global warming -- I'm sure that there are a lot more than we even know about. People have always profited from misfortune ( look at Katrina and 9/11 for example). It is sad but true. The fact that Al Gore is the front man for the cause is disheartening since the lifestyle he appears to live appears to contribute more to the problem than it does the solution.
I think we need to focus more on the "message" and forget about the "messengers". I would hate to see people think that global warming is a joke just because the people delivering the message are self-absorbed idiots.
Global warming is a theory that has never been proven and disproven. Computer models tell us that if Greenland melts, it will raise ocean levels by 23 feet, not possible. There is not enough ice there to do that.
There is nothing wrong with being environmentally friendly. I do. And I believe that global warming is being carried way out of proportion.
We have greater worries in this country. Our education system needs to be reformed. Our health care. And many more important issues.

Money can be made on anything. The secret to becoming wealth is finding something that will be need by everyone that you can charge for on an ongoing schedule. Like the power company. If some one were to find a way to power a home using only solar they would be out of business in a few years. Right now the solar cell are only put out about 28% of the possible input received should they hit 50 to 60% they could take over the powering of home and possible atou as well. something to think about. The man or company that come up with that cell will be richer than /bill Gates and rightly so.

If the earth is MILLIONS of years old and we have been recording temperatures for less than 100 years, the results are inconclusive. Global warming is NOT a scam. The earth is still in the process of coming out of an ice age. The disagreements are about how much man is contributing to it. We ARE adding to the amount of 'greenhouse gases', but their are plenty of natural sources for it too. Millions of farting cows for one, volcanic activity for another. The real question is if we can slow it down by cutting down or eliminating our output of these gases.

Check out the Governments own EPA and other sites before you make your conclusions. Some of the climate changes are caused by natural phenomenon but there is most definitely changes caused by humans.
