Does noone here check snopes.com for verification of urban myths before answering questions!?
Answer:
Yes, I do. Especially when I'm inundated with stupid emails all about the same false subject. Thanks for bringing it up.
Nope
I'd recommend FunQA.com add a Snopes.com search as part of the question submission process, but so many people ignore the hundreds of iterations f the same question when they post that I doubt it would help.
Okay, let me start by saying that I have read it both ways; it does leach into the water and it does not. But, this is the truth. Plastic is porous, therefor anything you put into it, can be absorbed into the plastic itself. So, every time you throw your bottle into the dishwasher, sink water, or anywhere you leave it out in the open, you are getting germs inside the bottle. Now, even though you wash it, the germs have been absorbed into the plastic. Maybe it is harmful, maybe not, but I just can't stand the thought of it. My family uses the filtered water out of the refrigerator door. I included two web sites to check out. It may be that this is a hoax, or it may be that we want to believe the government is wrong and that the plastics people are right. You decide.
