Gas prices?

ok, if we are doing so much to save fuel ( i.e low watt bulbs , hybrid cars, alternative fuels, ect ect ect.) then why arent the gas prices going down? and will they?

Answer:
I think the oil companies are pretending that we have very little gas left, to make us pay more. Its just a big lie, we have plenty of gas, there's no reason for these prices, and the government won't step in and help.
in our little town - they went up again, surely it can't get any higher - I really wish there was a better way - my favorite is in back to the future when doc puts trash in his delorian - wouldn't that solve a world of problems?!?!?!?!?!?
Gas prices will go down when everyone contacts their liberals (including those RINOs) in Congress and DEMAND that we allow new refineries to be built, and DEMAND that we allow for drilling in Alaska and the Gulf of Mexico.

Until then, having all of the world's oil would not help the fact that we can not refine it fast enough to keep up with demand.
Saving electricity saves more coal than anything as that is where we get more of our power.
Hybrid cars are still a minute fraction of those on the road so they will not affect prices yet.
Noone I know can use an alternative fuel as ethanol is not available here and biodiesel is more of a do it yourself deal and noon has the time.
The oil prices are still very high due to the war and other factors, so the price is actually a fair price (not that I like paying $3.20 a gallon).
BTW - life_rocks : in our nation there are several places where garbage is being used as "clean" fuel. Mostly for power plants - then if you have an electric car you can plug in there
The problem with gas prices is that it is not just supply and demand although world wide demand is up.

Issues like the Iraq war, instability in the mid-east, and uncertainty in Africa affect the price of oil.

The commodities market is very speculative, and any real or imagined fear can affect prices just like it does in the Stock Market.
It isn't about saving fuel. The reason that I have heard, for the price of fuel, is that we do not have the refining capabilities. We cannot make enough fuel for the demand. We have plenty of crude, we just cannot get it refined fast enough. Think about it.., if the world is billions of years old, and all this time the Earth has been creating crude oil, then how in the world can we drain the whole entire world of its' oil reserve, in a mere 100 years. Billions of years against 100 years. We don not need to save oil, what are we going to save it for? It is the tree hugger, environmentalist that have limited our capability of producing the amount of oil that we need to supply the demand. If we can't build refineries, how are we supposed to supply the demand.
Gas prices will never go down, the oil companies do not have any reason to reduce the price for fuel, would you if you could make billions of dollars? I know, I wouldn't until I was forced to, but who has the right to do that. If I could build a refinery, and had an oil well to get oil from, thus refine it and make billions of dollars, I would jump on it.
Hope this helps ease your mind about fuel!
They are going down a "little".
We have made only a scratch, not even a dent, in the consumption of oil in this country. We need to get a million electric vehicles on the roads and then we might see an impact on prices at the pump.

More than likely the demand from China and India will offset any decreases from our end of the world. STOP! WAIT ! ! I didn't mean to say "end of the world", that is just an expression. The end of the world will come later and not from gasoline. We will run out of gasoline way before the end of the world. It will still be expensive gasoline even then.

We need to get solar panels on every roof of every new house erected. A Geo-Thermal heat pump in every new house and an EV in every new garage. That will put a dent in the billions we send to other countries for energy.
gas prices won't come down because conservation of resources increases. when we have ethanol available and there is a choice of fuels then we might see prices come down. until then gas prices remain a political issue.
No, the oil companies are making to much profit.
because the effort to save fuel is unsuccessful
