How do you convert embodied energy in building materials into carbon emissions?

What I want to know is: if I know the embodied energy - how do I work out the carbon footprint to understand what needs to be done to offset the footprint...make any sense?

Answer:
There would be no single formula because it would depend on the type of power plant that is supplying your energy.

also if you go to the EPA Australia website they have a carbon footprint calculator.
