Can anybody identify my rock?
Thanx,

Sounds like either Graphite or Pyrite.

If the splinters are thin and you can see light through them you probably have shale.
The splinters make me think it's mica. The silver color might suggest hematite, but it is very hard and difficult to break. Wish I could see it.
Probably an ore of lead or maybe Specular Hematite.
Try rubbing it on another rock, if it leaves a black streak it is lead ore. Maybe Galena. The Hematite should be magnetic and the streak more reddish..
Without knowing more it's hard to tell.
Is the rock light, or is it heavy for the size? Too many variables to correctly ascertain the identity of your rock. Try the site below and let us know if this helps you get a positive ID.
I've a geologist friend who is helping turn my layman's interest in rocks into something more. Have fun and good luck!
i think its mica..
One of my answers of a question I answered comes close. It could be a boota rock. A rock that will make you live long time. I'm in Canada.
