What happens to waste dumps?

is that stuff burnt? destroyed in any way, or just kept there? how is plastic destroyed? also, what do you think of sending trash into the sun? my husband think it is a good idea since he says the sun's energy is constantly lowering, and that "fuiling the fire" will not only help our eco-system, but also our galaxy. I don't know much of this stuff though ^^.

They are covered with earth to keep them out of sight and smell and control pest populations. Methane from decaying garbage is also trapped and burned so that it doesn't contribute to greenhouse gases. Some municipalities don't use landfills. They may have incinerators instead. As for sending the trash to the sun, how is it going to get there, and who is going to pay for the fuel? It would take a lot more money to pay for fuel to rocket garbage into space than to deal with it here on planet Earth. And the sun will keep burning for millions of years to come without any help from us.
Your husband needs help. Sending trash to the sun would burn more fuel and creat far more of a problem than all our trash. Nor would we need to send it into the sun-- deep space would do.
Trash: it is burned, it is recycled, it is buried, it is dumped into the ocean.
