How to destroy used torn polythenes ?

Answer:
If you are going for rapid break down then shread it as small as you can to maximize exposed surface area and then expose it to sunlight. The UV will degrade the material to the piont of brittleness where it can then be torn down to very tiny pieces. I'm still curious if worms would then take it down further. Its worth a try. Mix it with dirt and see what they can do.
Polythene's are a real threat to mankind. These are very tough to destroy. You can dig a hole in earth and put it inside but these wont get mixed with soil easily. Its not a good idea to burn them too as it will produce horrible smoke and carbon Dy oxide.
So,throw them in the bin and try to use paper bags, jute bags instead. They'll help you as well our mother earth.
polythene gradually breaks down when you recycle it over and over
