How do we stop global warming and how big is our global footprint?

Answer:
We can't stop something that the Earth is naturally going through.
It is way past stopping it now!
The only thing we can do is slow it down. But that would still mean our great, great, great grandchildren will live on a dead earth
If you are in the UK, our country accounts for less than 2% of the entire world's polution. That doesn't stop the government continually taxing us and scare mongering us into believing that the world is about to end.
very small, i think its the earths natural coarse through life- studies are finding that Mars ice caps are melting as well. Maybe theres a correlation?
by those expensive lite bulbs that save energy. they are like $15 but they also save on ur electric bill. car pool and don't drive when you can walk.
i dont think we can stop it,the damage is done..slow it down? possibly...but i have another more likely theory about all this..the world goes through a natural change every 100,000 years or so..and i have a inclination that this is whats happening ,although the ozone thing prob part of it too..so no we cant stop it to answer youre question.
We lower the production of carbon emissions as much as we can. Our global footprint is pretty much immeasurable it's so big.
the way most of us are living, there would have to be at least 4 more Earths to sustain our way of life. check out www.myfootprint.org to take your global footprint quiz and learn how you can help. I think the 2 biggest problems are eating meat and transportation (cars, planes and transportation of products through the supply chain to stores). Best to buy local, organic and vegetarian, and bike, walk or train!
We can't stop global warming and my carbon footprint isn't nearly as big as Big Als
Global warming is not caused by people, we have little affect on the amount of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. Global warming is just something that happens naturally on the earth every so many years. This is just the first time its happened since we started recording weather phenomena. re-plant all the tree's they convert co2 to food but the world has been warming up since the ice-age how long have the scare mongers kept records for?it's big ,big money
You can stop man made emissions by stopping all industrial activity other than solar and wind power which is about 2%. So, eliminate 98% of man's activity. But that won't remove what we have already put in the air.
global warming isn't proven, it is a thoery, yet people are scared of it

This world is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions.
Real Wrath-of-God-type stuff. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies."
Rivers and seas boiling!
40 years of darkness, earthquakes, volcanos.

● How do we stop global warming?

GW is partly natural and partly man-made, it's the man-made part that we want to stop but it's not going to be easy. We keep emitting greenhouse gases and whilst nature is able to recycle some of them we overloaded the natural system almost nine times over last year. If we're going to stop global warming by reducing our greenhouse gas emissions then it means a reduction of GHG emissions close to 90%. This isn't at all practical unless we want to go back to living in the Dark Ages without transport, electricity etc.

What we can do is to reduce our emissions, this lessens the effects of GW and means that the effects occur slower. Just as importantly it buys us time, time that's needed to develop cleaner alternatives and for scientists to develop solutions to the problem. Many such solutions are being investigated but they're not going to happen overnight.

We can all play a part by reducing our energy consumption through saving electricity and driving less, it helps to reuse and recycle where possible. Energy saving lightbulbs have been mentioned and these can make a big difference. At the moment you can go to Morrisons and pick them up for a few pence each (they're being susidised by Powergen or N-Power or someone). ● How big is our global footprint?

Last year we - the human race - produced 29 billion tons of CO2 emissions and a further 11 billion tons of other emissions such as methane, nitrous oxide etc. Averaged out between everyone on the planet that's about 4.5 tons of CO2 per person and about 1.5 tons of other emissions.

This distribution of emissions is very uneven, the developed nations produce infinitely more greenhouse gases then the developing nations. Top of the list is the Luxembourg with and average of 22.0 tons of CO2 per person, bottom of the list is Chad with 0.01 tons per person. The UK is about in line with the average for developed nations at 11 tons per person.
