Shouldn't we be re learning the skills of the past to prepare us for the future?
Answer:
WE are all now so interdependent because of the complex society we live in that many people have no self sufficiency survival skills at all. A 13 year old visitor, who came with me to dig potatoes for dinner, refused to eat them because "they are growing in dirt with worms crawling around in it...ours come from the supermarket .."
If food supply was disrupted this person could be standing in a field full of food and starve through ignorance.
Good idea..but reality is that it wont happen..
Better, is to go hybrid (a mixed middle of the road) but is better than waiting for 100% electric or etc..
Personally I think we are not too far off from some solution though I too dont see it yet either..
Very true.....we will be the makers of our own destruction but the world will live on without us, it will heal and new species will thrive.
In certain aspects. We should learn from mistakes, acknowledge the past AND aquire NEW, improved skills for the present and future. LOL. Surely, mule, donkey and horse use for personal transportation and farming is outdated. Plus, they can injure you and these animals don't always smell so pleasant. My great-great grandmother used old transportation; she really died from a mule kicking her side. So, modern methods of transportation prove effective. Pollution and global warmings are major issues we face today. There are various earth-friendly / green methods of transportation, which are more effective than biofuels. Water can be used. Solar energy is an option, as well. These are safer.
The animal kingdom would die out if billions of people use them as personal transportation devices. You have to take into consideration in the past we have billions of less people on the earth. We are too advanced to use mules and horses as cars, and there is not enough of them for everyone. We already have thousands of other means for transportation, we don't have to set our selves back to the past. Oh and also mules and horses are not as strong as they were thousands of years ago.
hee haw, I'm off to bed !
No. We shoud spend our time finding solutions to our problems instead of running away from them.
We should. You notice we always take more than we need when we take resources. You know we use lots of water and some day it might be polluted think we can die by dehydration and animals example fish one day we might only catch one or two a year! That's some reasons we have to care about the environment.
don't believe the propaganda re global warming. the start of the great global warming scare was Margret thatcher instructing scientist to find a link with fossil fuel namely coal to try and break the miners strike in England. and a suggestion from a scientist there could be a link with c02 and global warming. the fact is c02 levels rise 800 years after the warming. you should be far more worried about the fact our magnetic poles are about to switch so we are losing our magnetic shield from solar radiation in a period where the sun is in an a very active stage and producing more heat. and that my friend is nothing we can do anything about. and this causes us to warm. also did you know 1 of the warmest periods in earths history was 30,000 years ago and i think we can pretty much guaranty their where no cars on the road then. methane gas is a genuine global warming gas thousands of times worse than c02 yet there is nothing at all being done about bovine methane a factor of about 20% in the grate global warming swindle.
if you where a scientist and wanted a grant to do research on say squirrels you would be refused.
if you sent the exact same application in with the effects of global warming on squirells you get funded.
I don't think donkeys will be much good we will need an ark.
As a chemist I know ethanol can be produced in beneficial ways, and making use of manures is just common sense. There is also no potential shortage of oil either for many decades.
Horses are incredibly poluting. Mass transportation, technological advances and population control are the answers. The World is overpopulated already and we need to face up to it.
Peta won't allow it. Just face it pal, you're gonna be walking. Walk fast cause the water's rising.
CO2 from transport is a symptom, not the disease. Overpopulation is the disease (see llink) If we cut our consumption in half but the population doubles, there is no net gain.
We need to develop new skills, FAST!
The link is very interesting, it will make more sense if you watch the whole series ... I just gave you part 3 of 8. In this example one minute of bacteria growth = 10 years of population growth in Boulder Colorado at 7% per year.
Yes we should learn the skills of the past to prepare us for the future. Man is unknownly killing man. We are creating so much tecnology that if something happened where computers didn't work or they couldn't make batteries anymore, Man would die from chaos! All people know now is computers, telivision, and many, many more teconolgy. Brazil is (no offence) lieing. Also, we do need 2 loosen up on tecnology and go back to the older things, but not as far back as Animals for transportation. People are creating cars that run on water and other things. Plus, we have scooters, skateboards, bikes, etc. People should conserve gas and water. Even though it is believed that There is enough water in the world to fill up the state of Alaska more than 10 times. The world is 2/3 water. so we don't need to worry abot that-yet...But people need to learn what to do with out computers and without lights. Hello, it's called candles and sunshine.
Yes. Flint chipping and blacksmithing can be both fun AND profitable if you're good enough.
That is a noble thought but, alas it will never be acceptable again in this present cycle of our lives on earth.
You see man is a very inqusitive being, that why we have got so many problems at this time and there is more to come because, man are even interfering with the creation of god himself, man thinks the he can improve the technology by cloning humans what next?
There was the time when it took man two or three weeks to travel from England to The new world (America) now it takes 8 hours and if it's concord about 4 I think it was so that would be one giant step backwards for mankind.
When or if we can afford a motor vehicle, we tend to buy one that is faster than every other motor on the road, even though the speed limit doesn't warrant this.
relearn the skills of the past some of us could whatabout the majority who want to build bigger and better they are not interested in the past they are living now.
The farmer would not be very happy about going back to horse drawn plows not in his interest, the farmer isn't interested in feeding you or me he is interested in how much profit he is going to make at the end of the day.
Bio fuel will noe interest the oil companies because anyone can produce that with a little know how, where are the billions going to come from.
Very sorry friend that is a no no.
Be a little more modern. How about a car with cycling pedals for each passenger attached so that the combined force of all peddlers is what gives the vehicle forward motion. I think this would not only be fuel efficient but encourage people to car pool on busy freeways thus eliminating congestion as well as exhaust. Another advantage is that everyone would get their daily exercise eliminating the need for expensive gym memberships and driving us into a healthier way of life.
