I keep getting told that environmentalism = socialism?

What the f*ck does that even mean? Does it mean that property and the distribution of wealth (here, we are talking about the environment) is subject to control by the community (you, me, your children, your friends, etc)? What's so bad about that?

Answer:
There is a pretense that environmentalism hinders capitalism when, in fact, it just as easily promotes it by creating new technologies. The reason it is brought up is so the oil companies can keep being the ones who makes the money. This -obstructing the development, hindering choice by restricting new advances - is anti-capitalistic in my view, and is there just to reinforce a monopoly.
People like to have freedom of choice, when it gets down to it. Any environmental laws that seem too heavy-handed will be derided for this reason.
Well, son, it's true. Socialists are all animals; so if you are for managing stuff for the benefit of the wild things you have to be for socialists, it simply follows.
I don't like other people telling me how to live my life. They don't want my wife and I to ride our Harleys or to go out on our boat. What gives them the right to tell me anything?
No, it means that property and wealth are owned and controlled by the government. If you need to have why that is bad explained to you then you are probably lost beyond saving.
jake - Oh my God, you have to live by rules and laws so you don't get the whole damn world dirty for everyone else! The horror! Next you'll be whining because you can't just dump your garbage in the street instead of putting it out to be picked up.
