What is the best way to dispose of electronics like toasters and such?

(of course if the items are in good condition I donate but I know I have some unusable items laying around)

Answer:
Today, there are many local and state recycling programs that accept electronic waste, also known as e-Waste. Please contact your local environmental agency (I'd start with the State folks) and ask them what programs are available near you.

Here in my state (Delaware), we have collection sites that accept some electronic wastes free. I know that there are similar programs elsewhere.

You can learn more about e-Waste and e-Cycling on the EPA's web site at: http://www.epa.gov/epaoswer/hazwaste/rec...
Some electronics are considered hazardous waste ~ microwaves, tvs, dvd players, computers etc. They need to be disposed of at a Hazardous Waste collection site.

Old kitchen appliances, like toasters and such, can be brought to a recycling center.
I figure you are going to the dump.
Throw them in the trash.
Give them to a second hand store that has a staff that repairs them. Out here, Deseret Industries does this.

Or make them into art.
The Goodwill will repair donated items if possible.
Either send it to the recycling factory or if that thing is really in a terrible state, then just send it to the "world of junks"...
