Is Bono a hypocrite?
How come these people never point out praises for the likes of Leo DiCaprio who drives an electic car and refuses to take limos - even to award events? Cameron Diaz drives a Prius and bought them for members of her family, Daryl Hannah compaigns for biodiesel standards....
Al Gore gains nothing in the way of personal finances for all the awareness he's caused, nor does anyone pay for him to go around in hopes of educating people about GW, when you bashers can do the same about something you believe strongly in, then maybe we can take your views seriously.
Answer:
With respect to Al Gore, he will run for President in 2008. Essentially Al gore is an undeclared candidate.
As an undeclared candidate Al Gore can get away with many things that he could not if he were a declared candidate.
Al Gore's movie, and The Live Earth concert are primarily tools for keeping him in the public eye until he is ready to declare his candidacy for President.
Every time I see Bono on tv talking about poverty, etc, I think to myself, "Yeah, how much did those sunglasses cost you, Bono?" He probably has 300 pairs. How many African kids could he save with that dough? I don't care if he gets them for free; he should sell them all and donate the money.
So you are saying that Bono should take a vow of poverty because he is working hard to battle poverty world wide? Well, that makes a world of sense, doesn't it?
Al Gore is being flogged on the net because he is the most notable person trying to promote kindness to our planet.
That's a good idea. We should all promote people who are helping protect our planet.
I don't think any one expects Bono not to buy sunglasses but given his views on poverty he could help alot more by donating the money he spends on them. I think Al has got plans to earn money some way. Like selling carbon credits or something.
Even *IF* you are correct about all those others. that *STILL* doesn't give Al Gore a pass. Just because there may be a lot of other scum bags out there doesn't mean that Al Gore can be one just because you fall for all the propaganda of his scam. And, in fact, Gore does profit from this sacm... he own the company that sells carbon credits. Yea... Saint Al...
A person who actually cares will prove it through their actions.
Why is it when a rich man rallies to support the poverty stricken he is immediately referred to as a hypocrite? I'm sick of people bashing Bono for giving a crap. "If he's so rich, he should donate his money!" Did you know that Africa is several hundred billion dollars in debt? Several hundred billion! That's twelve figures! You cannot possible fathom that much money! Bono has merely a fraction of it. If he multiplied his wealth a hundred times he still wouldn't come close. He's trying to get the wealthiest nations to drop the debt Africa owes them... otherwise no monetary amount will help them.
I understand you're not calling Bono a hypocrite inasmuch as you're using these claims as an example, but I get so mad. I think Bono is a very intelligent man who refuses to act like the stereotypical drunken rock star. Why should we criticize him? Should he be more like Brett Michaels and desperately plead for attention on his own moronic reality show? At least he's still got his career. How many other rock stars have had a career so successful after nearly 30 years?
I think Bono, Al Gore, Cameron Diaz, Daryl Hannah, and Leo DiCaprio are ALL good people and not hypocrites.
