Global Warming - An act of intolerance and ignorance of human towards nature?

Is it too late to make changes? Tell me your views. I've been saving my electricity by switching to use a fan rather than the air con and I only used it when I go to sleep around 11 pm.

Answer:
I've always tried to save gas and electricity, and why not, it even saves money! For a long time I have believed that humans are causing global warming, but recently I have become skeptical.

Its true that there is no direct evidence of man-made global warming. Climate and ecological models are not a perfect science, their results depend on a lot of variables. On complex models, variables and their values are often debated by scientists with different views. There are so many ecological and chemical processes taking place all over the planet (which may or may not affect climate) that it can't be accurately modeled.

As already mentioned, the earth and its climate are in constant change. About 1200 AD the global temperature was several degrees higher than it is now. I'm sure a lot of ice melted, some species died off, etc, but humans along with millions of other species all survived. CO2 levels were also higher at that time, but there was no industry or automobiles to cause it, it was natural. Then about 1600 AD there was a small ice age, since then the temp has slowly been increasing.

So why is man-made global warming such a big deal as of recent? Because its no longer an environmental issue, it is now a POLITICAL ACTIVIST MOVEMENT as well as a huge CONSUMER MARKET. Being green is a new cliche and people are taking advantage of that.
Personally i dont believe in global warming. I guess thats lost me "Best Answer" :P

The planet has gone through millions of years of change, it is in constant change now and will be in constant change for its entire existence.

There was no pollution a few thousand years ago yet the world was still a very changing place.Millions of species of animals, fish, insects etc have come into existence and died out because of the Earth's natural climate change.

Yes I agree that we are not helping and our pollution is affecting the world but I feel it is only a marginal problem.

We are also getting much better. London for example was a very polluted city around 100 years ago when fish couldn't live in the River Thames. Now however fish have returned and smog is at an all time low.

Another great example is Singapore. A thriving metropolis but at the same time pollution free, very green and totally dedicated to conservation and hygiene.

I think we will reach a harmonic balance eventually within the next few hundred years.
Yes, of course. History is full of such acts. In Texas, we have a vine called Kudzu.

Kudzu was introduced to the United States in 1876 at the Centennial Exposition in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Countries were invited to build exhibits to celebrate the 100th birthday of the U.S. The Japanese government constructed a beautiful garden filled with plants from their country. The large leaves and sweet-smelling blooms of kudzu captured the imagination of American gardeners who used the plant for ornamental purposes.

Now, we call it the foot-a-day vine in Texas. It covers entire structures, telephone poles, anything that will sit still. It's very difficult to eradicate, and is considered a nuisance. Pesticides have very little effect, and, in fact, some have actually caused it to grow faster.

In the past 3 years I have reduced our utility bills by 2/3 simply by turning off lights, using incandescent bulbs in lamps, keeping the A/C at 75 or above and the heat at 65 and wearing a sweater around the house. Wash dishes by hand if possible, wash a full load of clothes & use cold water. I have tile floors which are cool in the summer so I put a fan on the floor and let it circulate the house. Put all computers on power switch and turn it off when not using. Take quicker showers. Wash the dogs in turn waters the yard. Recycle all my paper at the local elementary school drop box. It is never too late to make changes and we are the only ones who can do it.
It's not yet too late, but energy sources are very much limited and will not last for long. We must work together to conserve energy and promote a cleaner Earth.
No it's not to late. but over population is causing it. Read the an inconveint truth by al gore
Won't you be grumpy when one of these days, after you've suffered through the heat, ridden your bike to work, spent the extra money for fluorescent bulbs, and generally inconvenienced yourself, etc. only to learn that it was all baloney?
