Did the "Live Earth" do more harm than good?
I can't imagine a better way to get the Global Warming message out...just like in anything, don't you have to spend something to make something? Besides, I sure hope those people b|tching about how dirty the "Live Earth" concerts were never go to concerts themselves...EVER...
Answer:
since most people are idiots and only concerned with their own little world, they need things like concerts and TV commercials to remind them of actual important issues.
No, these are just the usual ignorant complaints from people who are anti-environmentalists.
For one thing, the concert planners went to great lengths to minimize their environmental impact, as can be seen in the link below. For another, the amount of awareness raised about the climate change crisis was invaluable. Overall I have little doubt that the event did more good than harm. Certainly it could have been better (for example, discussing evidence and future predictions of global warming), but raising basic awareness is certainly an important cause.
I can imagine several better ways to get this political message out...even to the retarded celebrity worshipping culture sheep.
You know who's doing 1000 times more to cut back on their carbon footprint than Al Gore or any of these so called "green" musicians? The boogie man himself...Wally World. Check it out for yourself.
It did more harm in that it wasn't very entertaining and it didn't get good ratings.
I watched it for a little while, but the performances were so half-as*ed that I changed the channel.
OK so you tell us...by how many microns did Mean Sea Level go down since the concert? All the awareness in the world won't produce a single joule of clean energy.
Since it did no good at all...
It had to do more harm than good.
Anything Gore is involved with has to be a mistake.
I think Dana did a study on how the sea level rose a whopping .05 x 10 to the -15th power due to global warming . Dana back me up on this!
Everyone! Time is short. Run screaming out of your homes and run for your lives. Bury your car! The END IS COMING!
"Awareness" is overrated. Look at Live8--people raised their hands and rocked out for global poverty and everyone went home and nothing changed. And LiveEarth was worse because it directly contradicted its own stated aims by using a ton of energy. And it wasn't even good! I'm not against concerts but let's not pretend that Madonna gives a sh*t about the environment flying around in her private jet.
