Heya, dose any one know if you could sell your aluminium cans and tin cans at a scrap metal yard?
Answer:
Yes you can, but you need LOADS of them to make any money. Aluminium is very light - can's even more so because they are so thin...
Yes you can..My son does it but it takes a long time to gather enough to make it worthwhile..
Ask the out-of-work airframe engineers, they should know well enough. You can recognize them by their bobble hats.
I think they would just laugh at you to be honest. If you had an old car or boiler or something significant then maybe yes but just put them in your recycling bin.
Yes, you can recycle a can!
aluminium cans are worth more than steel cans, as it's more expensive to mine.
U can take alu cans (eg. fizzy drinks cans - not beer cans, normally) to the can recycling depot nearest you.
They're normally located out of the town or city. the local council website should give details.
Last time i checked, they paid about 1p per can (although people normally take car-laods at a time!)
This is a great way for homeless people to earn some cash, and some litter gets picked up as a consequence!
There's are hundreds of places where you can now recycle your aluminium cans, but not that many that will actually PAY you for them.
You can find a list though of places which WILL give you cash for your cans via the search facility on http://www.alupro.org.uk/cash%20for%20ca...
Beware that some collection points will onyl accept large quantities from you so best to check with each centre before you start your collection.
Cans made entirely of aluminum are bought by the pound by scrap metal dealers in every city and town in the US. You will find their ads in the yellow pages. Cans made entirely of steel ("tin cans") are bought only by major scrap metal dealers, in large quantities, because steel is worth no more than a few dollars a ton. Some cans are steel with aluminum tops or bottoms, and you have to separate the aluminum from the steel in order to sell the scrap.
In Tucson, city and private waste collectors accept steel cans for pickup, as part of the recycling service, and sell the pile they get to the metal dealer. This is the only way to get enough steel cans to matter.
