Who really cares about global warming anyway?

Why can't we just reduce our personal energy footprints because it is just the right thing to do? Do we really need to waste as much as we do?

There are other benefits beside reducing global warming (which no one agrees on anyway). How about: pollution, acid rain, health considerations, wasted natural resources, etc...

Answer:
look, I don't give a flippin crap about global warming, but:
- I don't drive a huge SUV or big truck like some of the liberal folks I know.
- I take the bus and bike to work 90% of the time
- I garden for food and I compost leftovers and I try to do it organically as much as possible (but sometimes that's not possible)
and I'm trying to teach my kids to respect the environment.
Correct. It's a big joke just like Al Gore.
I agree.
we should get all the robots to blast their gases into the air so we could become cool again. or drop big blocks of ice into the ocean.
um all of those are are global warming problems
anyone who doesn't believe in global warming or understand it's implications on our future generations is an ignorant fool. point. blank.
Sadly, the human socienty are filled with self-centered people. It would "bother" their busy schedules and whatever bull.

It is something that should be noticed. Incase no one has noticed, the weather is now getting crazy. There's stuff that has happened that's not suppose to. The Earth might be trying to adapt itself by healing but the humans are getting in the way of the process.
George Bush told me there was no such thing as Global Warming.

He said the ice is melting because the WMDs are hidden there.
Well, I do care about global warming. Not so much for myself as the personal consequences will be fairly minimal but more for the wider world and the world our future generations will inherit.

That said, even if there was no such thing as global warming it makes good sense to practice the points you mentioned.

In recent years there has been much media attention on global warming often to the detriment of the points you mentioned. Pollution, acid rain etc are still concerns, they haven't gone away just because global warming is with us and we should be concerned about these issues as well.

We can tackle all of these aspects by reducing consumption, taking a few simple considerate steps and reusing and recycling where possible.
Sorry to break the news to you, rainy day girl, but you and the rest of humanity are all going to die anyway, whether the globe is warm or not.

And yes, global climate change is the least of our concerns. We can't change it either way (make it warmer or make it cooler). Clean water, clean air and soil are more important and we are able to manage these resources.
Interesting that you mention acid rain. It was a scare tactic of the 1970 attacking industy of course. You don't hear much about it anymore because it was largely proven to be irrelevant and greatly exaggerated.
I don't care about so-called "global warming". My car gets 15mpg on the highway and I can afford the gas. I keep my home at 72 degs in the summer because that's what comfortable is, and I can afford the bills. I keep 100 watt incandescent bulbs burning because they are bright ans can be cleaned up easily if I break one. Plus I can afford the electric bill.

I've realized that me, just one person cannot do anything that will make a difference, so why bother.
Killer bees and the bird flu will get you long before "global warming" does. I saw an interview with the guy that coined that phrase. He crafted it to get the most political impact. Climate change wasn't scary enough.
Wait a couple of months. There will be another catastrophy du jour to worry about. Haven't you heard? Al-Qaida is back. Boo!
"Interesting that you mention acid rain. It was a scare tactic of the 1970 attacking industy of course. You don't hear much about it anymore because it was largely proven to be irrelevant and greatly exaggerated."

You don't hear much about it anymore because the problem was addressed through legislation and innovative policy solutions. The problem was found and a solution created. It is in fact an environmental success story. I guess this is why some need to re-write history to fit their tale for fear that global warming will also be addressed.
Global Warming is a natural occurance and it is unfortunate that it has been turned into a multi billion dollar scare machine aimed at consolidating government control over peoples lives.(specifically establishing a world government)
Having said that, people should care that car exhaust is bad for us at the ground level (lungs etc) people should care about polluted waterways, and other pollution here on the ground level. I am about doing what is right because it can be accomplished and will show results not about intentionally scaring people to consolidate (or gain) personal power.
"I've realized that me, just one person cannot do anything that will make a difference, so why bother. "

It's when millions of people who have this attitude make a difference, and unfortunately, there are millions of ignorant people like Mr. Jello.
I care because it is being used by socialists and others of their ilk as an excuse to strip me of personal freedoms and put the government in charge of every aspect of my life. Other than that, not so much. I do save energy whenever it is possible to save money by doing so while not degrading my life style.
I just read about this website on the Wall Street Journal: Carbon Diet Plan. It is an application that can put us on a 'carbon diet'. As an individual and friends, we can make an impact on global warming 1 lb at a time.
