Where does our sh** go after we flush it?

i was wondering exactly where our stuff goes after we take a dump in the bathroom and flush it.

Answer:
This is why you have a septic tank or city sewer lines.
In a sewer you dunce.
It goes down into the sewer.
im guessing the sewer
It recycles below your house back into the bath and sink water. The rest turns to dirt.

hehehee
It goes to hell.
Check your backyard.
apparently a lot of it ends up in FunQA.com
in the sea
sewer treatment plant, then it is micro filtered and turned into Aquafina. of course they add chemicals to separate the matter and turn into purified water. next time you pick up a bottle of Aquafina read the label (purified water)
no joke i am serious
Mine goes into the septic tank. Not sure about yours.
either the sewer or somewhere in the polluted part of the ocean??
into the river and back into the drinking water, ofcourse it get chlorinated and slightly filtered before you drink it again
Down the pipes and into the sewer...Than the giant alligators that are living down there eat it......
It goes into ur water pipe lines and comes back on u through ur shower.j/k
Depends...if you live in the city, then straight to the treatment plant...If you have a holding tank, it goes into that until the septic business comes and pumps it out. If you have a septic/mound system, it goes into the first tank, (solids), and the liquid gets filtered throught the next tank (or two), and then up or over to the leech bed...
down the toilet, through an array of tanks and pipes, into the sewer, and enventually into a sewer treatment facility where it's seperated from the water and goes to a lush green frield in the sky where it gets to run around with other turds. ;)
lol wtf is wrong w/u it goes to the sewer or sceptic tank u are totall idiot
The link should answer your question
If your rural, probably a septic tank.

If your urban - public waste facility.
apparently in your head!
water treatment plant..those of us who live in the country have septic tanks
It first goes into a sanitary sewer system that takes it to a sewage treatment plant where microorganisms separate it from the water which is then disinfected and discharged into the nearest creek or river.

The poop itself is gradually broken down by microorganisms into an insert substance called "sludge" which can be used as fertilizer on golf courses and even some crops.

If you use a septic tank a similar thing happens albeit more slowly, the water is separted from the poop by microorganisms once again and it enters the soil direct from the tank. Periodically they hire some one to come out and remove the processed poop from the tank and take it to the same treatment plants used by city dwellers where it also ends up on a sod farm or the 18th green as fertilizer.

This is NO S4!T !!
Wastewater treatment plants, where it is re-processed into..

Tap Water!

Another argument for bottled water!
Green party headquarters.

Seriously, it bio-degrades and is cycled back into the environment. Always has been, whether it is flushed or left on the ground.
you people are funny!
I'll spare you the endless redundant answers. See the link for a detailed description:

Your waste either goes into a septic tank on your property or into a waste collection system that leads to a wastewater treatment plant. If you have a septic tank, the tank is periodically emptied and that is also taken to a wastewater treatment plant.

A collection system can be quite complex. Some pipes use gravity for flow, while others require what are called "lift stations". A lift station basically pumps waste in directions where gravity is not available- up hills.

Once it arrives at a wastewater plant, it's:

1. Screened to remove large particles
2. Placed into basins to allow settling of solids.
3. Digested. This a process where micro organisms are used to eat / remove waste from the water.
4. Allowed to settle again. The result is water that is almost as clear as tap water.
5. The water is chlorinated to kill bacteria and dechlorinated.
6. It's ready to send to a receiving stream- river, stream, ocean, etc.

Contrary to popular beliefs, water from a wastewater plant is actually of better quality than the receiving stream. Yes...this means that it can be used as a drinking water source. But the quality of treated wastewater for that use is definitely not worse that using water from a large river. This is particularly true of larger cities with multi-million dollar operations.

Keep in mind that drinking water is more regulated than the bottled water industry. FDA standards are not as stringent as the EPA is on water and wastewater plants.

This industry is heavily regulated. Usually, operations that run a stray of the law are smaller systems that have no self checks or think that safety checks are too expensive.

I work for a large city and 1200 people work for the water and wastewater system. The system requires everything from laborers, equipment operators, mechanics, leak detector technicians, engineers, plant operators and lab tech's (me). Working in this industry aleviates any worries I had about water or wastewater problems. There are many good people working to keep our drinking water and waterways clean...thankfully.
To some form of waste treatment where bugs eat it.
