Should institutions of learning be taking the lead in environmental reform and halting climate change?

YES! People need to be taught the consequence of their actions, and students should learn how things they take for granted everyday affect the fragile ecosystem around them. I'm not saying kids should be naked in the woods talking to Mother Earth...but most of them have no idea what happens to all the stuff they throw "away". These are going to be the engineers, biologists, chemists, and politicians of tomorrow; and they're all going to be voting sooner or later...so I'm going to try my best to see that they learn about the environmentally friendly options.
No. But, they should be teaching the truth about global warming and real conservational ideals. And they should actively debunk all the fakes out there that are just scamming you, like Alberto Gorlioni, John Kerry-Heinz, and Nazzi Pulloutsi!
No, until there is actual proof and it becomes a standard belief, it would be more opinion of the professor than actual facts. There is already too much political bs in college where facts aren't being given as much as the ideals of the profs are.
I do think it may be a good idea to teach about or inform ways to conserve, just not relate it to global warming.
Traditionally, institutions of learning should be a center of forward thinking and creating a more ideal culture. Since the leaders of tomorrow pass through the gates of higher education.. I think higher ed needs to be a strong model of change in regards to environmental stewardship.
They can teach environmental reform to adjust to climate change....good idea for the future. But no one on earth can halt climate change...out of our hands.

WHAT IF THOSE INSTITUTIONS ARE GOING TO SUFFER AND LOSE MONEY FROM THE GOVERNMENT IF THEY START CLASSES ON GLOBAL WARMING. WILL THEY BE ABLE TO DO THAT ?
I WILL BELIEVE THEY ARE FREE TO TEACH WHAT IS NECESSARY WHEN BUSH OR CHENEY WILL GO PUBLIC AND TELL ON CAMPUS AT MIT OR HARWARD THAT THEY SUPPORT SUCH CLASSES AND SUCH TEACHING AND SIGN A BILLION DOLLAR CHECK TO EACH ONE OF THOSE LEARNING INSTITUTIONS WHO ARE WILLING TO OFFER THOSE CLASES,,,, THAT INSTEAD OF ASKING FOR BILLIONS OF DOLLARS TO SEND MORE TROUPS TO IRAQ TO PROTECT THE OIL MEN FROM TEXAS WHO ARE NOW IN IRAQ GETTING THE IRAQ OIL FOR FREE
