Is it true canaries have recently been known to emigrate to the uk because of climate change?
Answer:
Recently in the news there were reports of Parakeets in areas of Britain. Which are unusual for our climate. But that doesn't necessary mean they are migrating here. They could well be breeding in the wild after escaping or being released from captivity.
Fine as long as they dont sign on, want major surgery, a house, or any other free benefits.
They're probably just pets that someone let loose. That's why we have parrots in the bay area.
I have never seen canarie's fly around in the open, only in cages, i personally cannot see them survive out of a cage by themselves. As for emigrating, i don't think so, they are not designed to fly long distances like swallows etc. :))
birds don't emigrate they migrate canaries in the wild form are very restricted in range and habitat and would have to colonise lots of other countries first before they made it here. climate change is affecting other species around the UK mainly marine life moving north due to a raise in sea temperature.
hi sorry to disappoint you but I believe that they are escaped birds that like our climate after all they live happily in out side aviary's don't they !.
