Is global warming and the hole in the ozone layer the same issue?
I am just curious as to what peoples perceptions are from what they hear from media, school, environmental groups, politicians, lobby groups etc.
PLEASE NO LENGTHY ANSWERS JUST ANSWER YES OR NO
Answer:
NO
Global warming is caused by CO2, the ozone hole is caused by CFCs.
It's incredible how little the average envirowacko researches his or her own propaganda.
YES

(Wow, that was the easiest 2 points that I never earned today on this answer)
yes, in a way.
It's mostly no, but there are some interactions between these issues.
A simple yes or no is not scientifically correct.
EDIT: This is for other people, not for you, since they don't "get it". Here are the relationships between global warming and the ozone hole.
Gases that cause the ozone loss are CFCs, which also cause a small part of global warming. There's some overlap there.
The ozone hole causes Antarctica to be colder (it's complicated) which balances out global warming there, so Antarctica, so far, is staying the same temperature. Another interaction.
Not the same thing, but they are related, in both cause and effects.
If the ozone hole and global warming are related... then global warming is good for the ozone layer.
in the 1970's the hole was discovered to be growing. We had global cooling at that time.
Now the ozone hole is shrinking and we have warming.
They are not the same issue... and any relationship may just be coincidental.
But my correlation of warming to the ozone hole (above) is just as valid as the global warming alarmist's correlation of CO2 to the appx 1 deg C temperature rise of the Earth over the past 30 years...
Technically, it is.
since you want just "yes" or "no" answers...
yes, but they're more related, not really the same issue
They are really two separate issues.
The Ozone layer blocks Ultraviolet rays. When the Ozone layer is destroyed, harmful Ultraviolet rays can penetrate the atmosphere
Global Warming is caused by the greenhouse effect where sunlight penetrates the atmosphere and upon striking an object is converted to heat. The greenhouse gases do not permit the heat to radiate back out to space. This results in excessive warming of the earth.
Where people often confuse the two issues is that some of the chemicals that destroy the ozone layer also act as greenhouse gases.
no
global warming is caused by the hole in the ozone layer.
