2. The increase in CO2 is caused by the burning fossil fuels by human beings. We can tell this by isotopic analysis of the CO2 in the air -- we see "old" carbon combined with "young" oxygen. Here's an article explaining the evidence, with references to peer-reviewed papers:

3. CO2 is a greenhouse gas. Even though it's currently less than 0.04% of the atmosphere, it's responsible for 9% to 26% of the greenhouse effect. (Here's a link to that data: http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/arc... ) We need the greenhouse effect to keep the planet habitable. But too much greenhouse effect can warm the planet too much. Venus has at atmosphere that's 95% CO2, and the surface temperature is hot enough to melt lead -- that's an extreme case, but it proves that the effect is real. Nobody's making this stuff up.
and when i was a kid in the 70's global cooling was a fact so what is it warming or cooling?
Ice core samples going back 700,000 years show interglacial CO2 levels consistently at 280ppm. Current CO2 level is 360ppm. This would seen to be a 30% deviation from the norm.
Scientific data shows clearly, that, starting about 40 years ago, man's production of greenhouse gases overcame all natural forces that previously controlled climate. Two versions, very short and very long.

This can't be shown this in a few words in a FunQA.com. You actually have to read the links. They contain a ton of solid real scientific evidence that global warming is being expedited by mankind. Scientists do read this stuff, which is why the vast majority of them known this is proven fact.
The earth is warming up on it's own. About 7/10s of a degree over the last 100 years. It has done so in the past as well. There are many arguments. One I like is when the coast line between - what is now Oregon and Alaska - was mapped in 1822, there were several glaciers included along the Canadian shore. By 1890, they were all nearly gone. This warm up, which isn't that much of a warm up, started quite some time ago. There are many examples like this one, but not much room here. Don't tell Al Gore you heard it from me. Remember, you're an American, and everything is YOUR fault.
there is and will never be any scientific proof because the planet will kill us of before we can have enough information to call it a scientific fact but there is enough scientific information that would suggest we would be wiser to act and maybe prolong our stay here before extinction
In the 70's, the liberial media predicted by around the year 2005 I think it was? there would be a world wide food famine. Global warming is just a democratic plot to blame the USA for the worlds problems, just face it.
All the solid unbiased science proves that humans (and even animals) have a negligible effect on the temperatures on the planet.
Also, if you watch the video (it's in 5 parts) below it shows how the temperature readings have been taken inaccurately.
They proved that we actually aren't increasing in temperature after all, even though rising temperatures would be a good thing for the planet. We're still cooler than we were during the middle ages, so a tiny rise in temperature would be fine even if it were happening.
So, no, there's no reputable evidence that humans cause global warming.
Remember that Gore's movie altered graphs and data to fit their warped agenda. That's despicable, especially since it preys on ignorant people making them hysterical with false data.

The ice-core data is frequently cited as principal evidence to argue that CO2 is the earth’s main climate driver. Rises in the CO2 level "closely corellate" to rises in temperature. It is the jewel in the crown of the theory of man made global warming. But the ice-core data does not show that CO2 drives climate. It shows, very clearly, that the opposite is true!! Variations in temperature precede rises in atmospheric CO2 by several hundred years. It's true they correllate, but with an inverse relationship to that inferred by the Global Warming quacks.
Talk about an inconvenient truth.

Yes, there is loads of such evidence. I wish I had the time and energy to correct all the misinformation provided by people who have claimed otherwise in answering your question, but that's not what you asked anyway.
Basically, natural causes cannot account for the acceleration in global warming over the past 40-50 years. Climate modelers have input the different contributors to global climate change (sun, volcanoes, greenhouse gases, etc.) and found that the natural causes account for most of the warming until 1960, but that greenhouse gas emissions have accounted for about 80-90% of the warming since then.
I'm linking this plot from Wikipedia because that's the easiest place to find it. I've seen similar plots directly in scientific papers. If you want to dismiss it because it's linked from Wikipedia, go for it, but it illustrates what I'm talking about:

Or if you prefer to look at it numerically, we can go to the IPCC report Summary for Policymakers page 4, which shows that CO2 accounts for 1.66 W/m^2 of radiative forcing, greenhouse gases combined account for about 2.4 W/m^2, the sun accounts for 0.12 W/m^2, and total forcing is about 2.95 W/m^2. Counting cooling effects like aerosols, the total anthropogenic forcing is 1.6 W/m^2.

In other words, solar irradiance is responsible for 5% the amount of global warming that greenhouse gases are responsible for. It's been measured that volcanoes emit about 1% the greenhouse gases that humans emit annually. There's just no accounting for the recent acceleration in global warming unless humans are responsible for the vast majority of it.
Instead of trying to deny global warming, blaming others or finding reasons not to take action, look at it like this:
Fact: All our resources are finite.
If we act as if global warming exist, and we were wrong, we will have moved towards a more efficient economy.
If we do nothing, and global warming does exist, the results will be devastating.
Check out the IPCC report. It has so much evidence in it it'll blow your socks off. It's a bit technical, but take your time with it and you'll be fine.
