What do u think about recycling such as recycling of plastic bottle?

recycling must be increased and plastic things mustnt throw away and our environment must be protected and everyone must be conscious about our environment...

Answer:
I think that city officials need to enforce their local recycling laws. Every state in the union should expand their recycling plans and hold non-recyclers accountable for their actions. I live in Philadelphia, PA and I have to say I live on a street that has over 50 houses and out of that 50, maybe 10 houses recycle, give or take 1 or 2. Also, Philadelphia does NOT recycle plastic! Between a 1 gallon of milk container, laundry detergent bottles and other plastic food packaging, I throw away more plastic containers than any other item for trash and recycles combined. How DUMB!!

I am not pushing any books on anyone but there is this GREAT new book all about how we can, collectivly, make a difference with the littlest things. It is called "The Green Book" This book is very informative and enlightening. When you read all the little things that you can do and what a big impact they have, you will be glad you are doing your part in living "GREEN"
Everyone SHOULD be, but sadly everyone isn't
its a good thing
it should be done all the time and thay should make it law and enforce it to if thay fined every one that did not thay soon would
Of course, we must reuse the the things we no longer need. It is easy to recycle items in many ways. God bless.
We have a 10 cent deposit on pop and beer bottles and you never see a bottle along side the road if someone does throw it out someone picks it up for the deposit so it works out great .However i do see allot of water bottles along the road side that have no deposit .I think they should put a deposit on all plastic containers being that they have machines in the grocery stores to take the bottles .
Plastic is derived from petroleum. Recycling consumes energy when all those plastic bottles are picked up as well as during the recycling process itself. In addition, those bottles aren't recycled, they are downcycled: The water we buy does not come in bottles made from recycled plastic, instead recyled plastic gets used to make other plastic products that may have a longer lifespan than bottles, but cannot be recyled (ie. playground equipment). Cans are the same way. They are not made from pure aluminum, but aluminum alloys with other metals mixed in to increase the aluminum's strength. The sides of an aluminum can are made of a different grade alloy from the can's top and bottom. When the can is melted down, the mixture is of a different quality and can no longer be used to produce more aluminum cans.

So should we recycle? Yes. We still have a demand for products that are made from 2nd tier recylced products. But first and foremost we need to be conscious of the goods we purchase. Buying a water bottle and filling with water from the tap is infinitely better for the environment than recylcing.
In our own little way we have to contribute to recycling. It is everyone's responsibility. As for me I am starting to collect the recyclable paper from my junk mail instead of throwing them directly.
Recycling plastic is always goood I do it myself.;
I recycle mine as targets
Recycling is my middle name. well I wish it were…
It does get confusing several years ago I moved from one state to another. The old state-town just started to recycle #4 and 5s I thought it was great. The new state-town only recycles #2 and only if it comes up to a neck. So no tubs. This is where I think the gov should step in. give assistance, grants, or tax break or something. I live in rural Maine and the towns have a huge expense to recycle and to dispose of the garbage. (this is with us bringing the trash and stuff to the dump too. No local curb pickup by the town) It is a law hear, to recycle…..ok in the say capital city(Augusta) you live in a in an apartment under 6 units. They all have to recycle….:) but larger units 6- up do not have to ??:( does this make sense? The larger apartment buildings have more room and ability to store and collect recycling. Most have section 8 living in a percentage of them. the Gov or state could say nop we wont approve your apts. if recycling is not in place. They never get fined for not recycling. And would it not decrease the volume of the trash.. ok I will stop I would love to know am I the only one who thinks this makes no sense.
Thanks for the tip on “The Green Book” I will be looking for it… lest start a tip question…
Plastic bottles are made from oil and recycling them means less oil needs to be extracted, conserving energy, valuable resources and also reducing waste

Recycling one plastic bottle saves enough energy to run a 60-watt light bulb for six hours.

It is not known how long it takes for plastic bottles to break down when put in a landfill site but experts suggest it could be over 100 years.

There are many different types of plastic that must all be separated in order to be recycled. At present we collect plastic bottles only as they are easier to collect and separate. When the bottles reach the Recycling Depot in Stores Road they travel along a sorting line where each type is separated by hand before being baled and sent by lorry to be reprocessed. The plastic is broken down into flakes which are turned into pellets. These are melted down before being moulded back into plastic shapes that are then cooled.

Plastic bottles with the PET (or PETEB) mark can be recycled into fibre for sleeping bags and anoraks, new packaging, wall and floor coverings

It can also be recycled to make fleece clothing and it takes approximately 25 plastic bottles to make one fleece jacket.

HPDE bottles can be recycled into fences, park benches and signposts. It can also be used to make new plastic bottles.

PVC can be recycled into drainage pipes, electrical fittings and clothing.
You are right but many plastic bottles can not be recycled for instance small yogurt drinks, spectacle cleaning fluid bottles etc.
Recycling of plastic is always a wise choice. It would be more successful if the county/city would place recycling receptacles in places such as parks/shopping centers. In San Jose, Ca, households are provided with different colored waste receptacles for plastic, glass, etc. which is picked up by the trash guy. I was very impressed by this.

To decrease the use of plastic bottles, try putting filtered water from your sink/fridge in a reusable container.
One of the difficulties in recycling plastics is that when virgin plastic is formed is tends to "memorize" its original shape. This was discovered when recycled bottles were made of 100% recycled plastic. These bottles did not have the structure integrity or strength of the original bottles. This is a huge problem when recycled plastic is used in products that are shipped out in boxes & pallets because they get crushed. So the max recycled content is somewhere around 15%.

Also, recycled plastic is not "clean" so it is never used for food. water, or medicine bottles. (The original plastic containers could have held used motor oil, pesticides, etc.)

After these limitations, what you have is a tremendous amount of used plastic available for recycled use, but a much smaller market demand for these materials.
i recycle my cans as metal , my bottles as glass and my plastic as plastic , only to be used to build a giant fuel guzzling polluting 4x4 monster truck a housewife uses to travel 200 yards down the road to buy a pint of milk , i think my recyclable waste is better for the environment if it is just buried as land fill ,
I recycle plastic bottles at our community center. They take metals, plastic, cardboard and paper. It's a great thing for us.
