Do you know why it is important to recycle?
Did you know that methane and leachete are both byproducts of slowly rotting waste created in landfills? Where methane occurs naturally and has the potential of being an energy source, leachete does not have benefits; in fact, it has to have special holding ponds with bacteria added so as not to contaminate water sources. Even closed landfills have to retain insurance for a period of 30 years due to possibilities of explosions!
Also another thing to consider is that if we recycle and compost, then our need for mining and garbage pickup would be virtually eliminated!

My answer:
For starters, it is important not to spend our money on items that are not safe for our environment, such as plastics.
Second, we all must continue or begin to recycle, redistribute, reuse, all and everything that we can to help make our environment, and our children's future environment a healthy one.
Save Money and the Environment by:
1)Buy Products in the Largest Size You Can Use; Avoid Excess Packaging
2)Buy Products in Containers That You Know You Will Be Able to Recycle
If you buy large sizes, you save money, reduce waste, and help the environment.
Buy cereal in a large box instead of in individual serving sizes.
Buy juice in concentrates and use reuseable containers instead of single serving packages.
Save money by buying bottled water in a large plastic jug instead of six packs of 16 ounce bottles. Reuse plastic water bottles.
Buy large packages of sugar and flour.
Avoid the small boxes of raisins and buy the same amount in the 24 ounce box.
3)Buy Reusable and Long Lasting Items
Products that can be reused are cheaper in the long run than those you throw away and buy over and over again. Goods that are designed to last a long time are also cheaper in the long run than those that wear out quickly. A family can save $1,000 each year buy buying reusable and long lasting products.
Use rechargeable batteries in toys, flashlights, radios. You can save $200 a year by using rechargeable batteries instead of disposables in one cd player used two hours a day.
Use cloth diapers instead of disposable diapers. You’ll save $600 per child by using a laundry diaper service instead of disposable diapers.
Use a real camera instead of disposable ones. If you take 24 pictures each month you will save $144 each year.
Many families spend over $260 each year on paper towels and napkins. Switch to cloth napkins, sponges, and cloth towels or wipes.
Use washable plates, cups, and silverware for parties and picnics instead of disposable products.
Use an electric razor or hand razor with replaceable blades instead of disposable razors.
Buy high quality/long life tires. They cost less per mile traveled and reduce the problem of disposing of used tires.
Use a washable commuter mug for your morning coffee and eliminate a Styrofoam or plastic cup every day.
Bring bags to the market, either cloth ones or your old paper and plastic ones. Many markets will credit your bill for using your own bags. When buying only a few items, don’t take a bag.
Clean and service your appliances, computers, tools, and cars so that they will enjoy even longer lives. And, before you replace them, check to see if they are repairable. Consider sharing equipment that is used infrequently such as hedge clippers, pruners, fruit pickers, or chain saws.

THINK GREEN! THINK RECYCLE!
if we were to JUST throw away, then our recources would run out quicker thatn you know it.when we recycle, the we can reuse the elements instead of using new materials all the time.
to help cut back on pollution and waste in the world if we dont recycle the world as some ppl say gets sicker and eventually there will be no world and there will no mankind if ppl dont shape up there habits
Well, there are many reasons why we should recycle, not just to conserve, but also in health awareness -
Old used tires, if thrown out by the roadside or in the backyard, are a prime breeding ground for mosquitos, which carry many viruses and diseases, harmful to people.
Used plastic jugs, which contain chemicals, i,e. transmission fluid, winshield washer fluid, hydraulic oil, engine oil, etc, etc. are harmful to the streams in which we catch fish to eat, If we consume the fish, the fish, which have inadvertently consumed minute percentages of waste chemicals, will thusly, pass the poisons on to humans, posing health risks!
Also, loose waste plastic string, grocery bags, bottles and so on pose hazards to wildlife themselves, by way of strangulation, by getting trapped in deers horns, and by accidental snaring.
As the old rule of thumb goes "Leave the woods cleaner than you found them"

I'll answer your question: it's important to recycle all we can, however sometimes it's too costly to recycle. So you weigh the possibilities and do what you think in your heart is right.
The real question is why isn't it important to recycle?
to keep away from mosquitos and from germs.
Quite a few landfills now are using a system to convert methane into a more friendly gas. As for me I can recycle almost everything. For instance in Cincinnati I can sell a pound of aluminum cans for 65 cents, copper for 2$ a pound, newspapers for 55$ a ton( neighbors save them for me too. It adds up fast), and cardbord for 50$ a ton(available everywhere. Some stores pay me to haul it away). Come to think of it I am the "Ultimate Recycler". Also I get used skids from local factories that were going to pay to have them hauled away. If one is broken it only takes a piece from another to repair it. I sell them to a skid company for 3$ each, They sell used skids to customers for 5$ each plus shipping. I could tell you more, but I think you get the jist of it all. Recycling pays! I have a few companies that actually bale the cardboard for me. Maybe I,ll join WWE as the "Ultimate Recycler". After all I AM 6ft. 5 at 300 lbs. LOL!
