DO you think the Government should ban the use of Plastic Gracery Bags??
Answer:
I recycle them, but am weaning myself onto canvas totes. They are ugly, trashy symbols of our overzealous consumptive nature. I say, ban them. The resources used in producing plastic bags and the waste generated by plastic bag use has added yet another strain to our natural world. Stop using them for wastebasket lining. Phase out your waste production. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Compost.
It would help some.
But why ban them, which will make a lot of people mad? If grocery stores give you a credit for bringing your own bags in (many do right now) people will be encouraged to do that. It's a better solution.
Definetly not. i mean, brown paper bags arent biodegradable anyway!
No, there are too many people want to ban everything. Grocery bags, bottled water, smoking, etc. Where does it end? The government doesn't have reason to be in the banning business being in peoples personal decisions..Land of the free

I don't know about the government but somebody needs to. I would like to see each state grab the bull by the horns and do something about it. Come up with a program that encourages the use of reusable bags or better recycling habits.
It would be even better if the merchants that make those bags available came up with incentives to encourage their customers to NOT use them less.
No, I like plastic bags and I use them in wastepaper baskets. Besides, unless you bring your own bags to the market, you are going to need some bags from the store. How many more trees would have to be cut if the govt outlawed plastic bags?
No, I think the government should keep out of my personal life and personal choices.
No. I think governments should mind their own business more often.
HELL YES NO ONE REALLY RECYCLES THEM ANYWAY. my stores in rochester ny actually now has clothe bags and you reuse them all the time and use for anything.
No way i save alot of money using them as garbage bags i mean whats the difference garbage bags get thrown away and their plastic.
I don't believe it should be up to the government. I believe the stores and citizens should take the initiative to reduce and eventually eliminate the use of plastic bags. I do believe it would make a big difference to the environment.

we would have to cut down more trees to make paper bags...which fill up the landfills.
The plastics should be more biodegradable.
You should make the choice to use canvas or cotton bags.
